The 2025–2026 NM Vistas report gives families and communities a look at how New Mexico schools are performing. Rather than relying on a single test score, NM Vistas considers multiple measures, including student proficiency and academic growth in reading, math, and science, regular attendance, English learner progress, and, at the high school level, graduation and college and career readiness. These measures are combined to provide a broader picture of student success and school performance.

We are especially proud to celebrate Hagerman Middle School’s designation as a Spotlight School. Spotlight is the highest overall NM Vistas school designation and represents schools performing among the top 25% in New Mexico that are not identified for additional support or improvement. HMS earned a 62.2 Spotlight Score, with 53% of students proficient in reading—10 percentage points above the state average of 43%—and reading growth at the 62nd percentile. Math growth was also positive at the 53rd percentile, and 87% of students demonstrated regular attendance.

While there is much to celebrate, our data also identifies opportunities for continued growth. Math proficiency remains an important focus, with 26% of HMS students proficient, matching the state average, and science proficiency at 33%.

At Hagerman High School, our NM Vistas results also provide reasons to celebrate while helping us identify areas for continued growth. Attendance continues to be a strength, with an overall attendance rate of approximately 93%, reflecting the commitment of our students and families to being at school and ready to learn. We are also encouraged by our graduation data, including a 79.4% four-year graduation rate for the Class of 2025, with extended-year graduation rates showing that many students who need additional time continue working toward and ultimately earning their diplomas. At the same time, the data points us toward continued improvement in on-time graduation, academic proficiency, successful course completion, and consistent student engagement. Through early identification of students needing support, regular progress and transcript reviews, targeted interventions, and a continued focus on strong classroom instruction, we are committed to building on our successes and creating even more opportunities for our Bobcats to succeed

These results give us both reasons to celebrate and a clear direction for continued improvement. We are proud of the growth our students and staff have demonstrated and remain committed to building on that progress as we continue Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow.

Strategic Plan - A Roadmap for Success

In early Spring 2026, Hagerman Municipal Schools brought together stakeholders to begin planning for the future of our district. Parents, staff, school leaders, students, and community members participated in a series of meetings to discuss where we are, where we want to go, and what priorities should guide our work. From those conversations, three primary goals emerged as the foundation of our Strategic Plan:

  • Math Achievement: Increase student math performance by 5% annually, with an overall goal of 15% growth by 2029.

  • Reading Achievement: Increase student reading performance by 5% annually, with an overall goal of 15% growth by 2029.

  • Parent & Family Engagement: Ensure 95% of our families are connected and engaged through at least one school communication platform, such as ClassDojo, BAND, the Bobcat App, ParentVUE, or Facebook.

These goals are more than numbers—they provide a shared direction for our students, teachers, schools, and community. They guide decisions about instruction, professional learning, resources, communication, and opportunities for families to be involved in their children's education. Throughout the year, we will continue monitoring our progress and sharing updates with our families as we work together toward our vision for Hagerman Schools
