A Few Helpful Reminders from Mr. Dunn
As we settle into the school year, we want to thank our families for your continued patience and partnership as we work together to keep arrival, dismissal, and daily routines running as smoothly and safely as possible. Our parking lot can get especially busy at certain times of the day, so we wanted to share a few reminders that can help make things easier for everyone. Please take a moment to review the information below:
🚗 Caregiver Pickup – Arrival Time
If you are picking up your learner (s) after school, please consider arriving as close to 3:15 p.m. as possible. Waiting until closer to dismissal helps reduce parking lot congestion and keeps access available for staff, visitors, and others who may be arriving or leaving before the final bell.
⏰ Early Dismissal/Pickup
If you need to dismiss your child from school after 2:30 p.m. for an appointment or another reason, please be aware that parking lot traffic related to caregiver pickup may make it difficult to access or exit the lot. If possible, please plan appointments and early pickups with this in mind.
📚 Materials Drop-Off
To help minimize classroom disruptions during the school day, please communicate with your learner(s) via email if materials need to be picked up or dropped off at school.
Students have been taught about this process and know how to communicate with their families regarding items they may need.
Thank you for helping us keep our school day running smoothly and for partnering with us to create a safe and efficient environment for all of our students, families, and staff!
OMS PTO: Get Involved & Make a Difference!
Wondering what the OMS PTO does or how you can help? The PTO supports our students, teachers, and staff by providing resources, organizing fun events, and building our OMS community. You don’t have to attend every meeting or volunteer at every event—every idea, donation, and helping hand makes a difference!
Fall PTO Meetings
Parents and guardians are always welcome! Meetings are a great way to learn what’s happening at OMS, hear what our teachers and staff need, and find ways to support our school.
All meetings are at 4:00 PM in the Cafeteria:
- September 10
- October 8
- November 12
- December 10
Color Run – October 14
The Color Run is our biggest fundraiser of the year and one of the most fun days at OMS! Students get to run, laugh, get covered in color, and just be kids. We highly recommend volunteering! A SignUpGenius will be coming soon, but consider keeping 10:00 AM–2:00 PM open if you’d like to help.
Ways You Can Help
- Teacher Lounge: Watch for a volunteer opportunity to help clean up the lounge after construction. Our teachers deserve a clean, comfortable place to eat and recharge!
- School Supplies: Donations of pencils and tissues are especially appreciated.
- Color Run Incentives: We need an Incentive Coordinator to work alongside Emily, helping brainstorm, procure, and deliver student incentives.
- PTO Leadership: Looking ahead to 2027–2028, we’ll need a new President and Treasurer. Now is a great time to get involved and learn the ropes!
Whether you can volunteer for an hour, donate supplies, attend a meeting, or simply share an idea, there’s a place for you in the OMS PTO. We hope you’ll join us this fall and help make OMS an even better place for our students and staff!
