The Buzz

As I wrote our annual letter for the year this past week, staff here at RVS were able to help remind me of just how much has happened in a few months time. While my head is admittedly still spinning from this very busy first half of the year, I am filled with appreciation for just how much our staff, families and community members do to ensure that our students have a fantastic experience. Our teachers and after school staff plan amazing Forest Friday lessons and head out in all kinds of weather, facilitate awesome art projects, garden and play with students and inspire them to do their best work. Our support staff, from Tina to Ms. Marion to Nurse Dot engage with every student in the building, helping out in the hallways and even drawing individual hearts for every student on their lunch bags when we go on a field trip! 😍 We also appreciate our OUTSTANDING Roxbury PTO, as well as all of our family partners as you volunteer, help practice math facts and read at home, and brave the wilds of the Roxbury roads to get these kids in every morning to us. THANK YOU for a great first half of the year, and we look forward to getting right back at it in 2024.

• School will close for winter break following a half day (12:00 dismissal) on 12/22. School will reopen on Tuesday, January 2nd. Please note that there is NO Bridges on Friday, 12/22: **PLEASE UPDATE TINA WITH YOUR DISMISSAL PLANS FOR YOUR CHILD IF YOU TYPICALLY ATTEND BRIDGES ON FRIDAY** Thanks!
• Please bring inside shoes and winter gear back to school on 1/2!

Kids who have completed the December reading challenge should bring their forms back to school on Thursday. There is still plenty of time to complete these activities if they have not yet: parents needing an extra copy of this form can email shannonm@mpsvt.org and I'll send one right to you!

We have a student who has lost a pair of black, size 2 sneakers at school, and they do not appear to be in the building. Please check at home to be sure your student didn't accidentally bring home the wrong pair. If you find anything, please return to the RVS front desk. Thanks!

Our librarian is requesting that all families ask their students to please look around at home for any abandoned library books: we would love to have them back at school! Before the holiday break would be wonderful. Thanks!

Toys For Tots: You can donate or request assistance here.

Through the Salvation Army, you can access toys and food boxes for the holidays. Call (802) 476-5301 or use Facebook Messenger (The Salvation Army Barre, VT Corps) to set up an appointment to access these resources.

• 2024-2025 school budget: Learn more about this years budget pressures and attend the next school board meeting happening Wednesday, 12/13 at Montpelier High School or virtually via Zoom.

• District Caregiver Council: Learn more about the Council and consider joining. The next meeting is happening Thursday, 12/21
  

The HOPE Coalition has been in contact to share with the Roxbury community that they are providing support in the form of relief supplies, clothing, fresh produce and shelf-stable foods, all at no cost. They are located at 297 Vine Street in Berlin and are open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1-4PM. Folks seeking more info can visit www.hopecoalition.net.

All regularly scheduled meetings begin at 6:30pm. Board Members will either be participating virtually or in-person. This meeting will be held at MHS. Public comment is welcome at all meetings at the time period designated in the meeting agenda and/or as established by the chairperson.
