The Champion Chatt
November 2025
A Message from the Principal
Dear Chattahoochee Families,
As we begin November—National Gratitude Month—I want to take a moment to express how truly thankful I am for our incredible school community.
While October was full of excitement, November promises to be just as vibrant! Our Connect Partners have planned a variety of events and service projects, and there are many opportunities for your family to get involved. Be sure to check out all the ways you can connect at Chattahoochee this month.
One of the highlights is coming up on November 7th—MOVIE NIGHT! Thanks to the hard work of our amazing PTO board, this event is free for all families. Please RSVP using the QR code below. Pre-order pizza and snacks will be available for purchase, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Chattahoochee Elementary. A huge thank you to our fabulous sponsors for making this possible!
And yes—it’s true! After the movie, I’ll be spending the night on the roof to celebrate the incredible fundraising efforts of our Chattahoochee community. If you're up early on Saturday morning (Nov 8th), feel free to stop by and cheer me on as I climb down and welcome our Browns Bridge Connect Partners, who will be giving some classrooms a fresh coat of paint as part of their day of service. We’ll also be joined by The Place of Forsyth (Food Pantry), the Community Clinic, and the Forsyth County Mobile Library for their monthly visit.
We are truly overwhelmed by the support of our families and community. Thank you for partnering with us to make Chattahoochee such a special place.
See you at the movies!
With sincere appreciation,
Jill Short
Principal

PTO
We did it, Chattahoochee!
We are thrilled to share that we raised over $18,000 through our Champ Strong Fundraiser! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our friends, families, and community, we not only met—but exceeded—our goal! We will share more once we know what our budget will allow for playground enhancements.
Because we surpassed $12,000, Mrs. Short will be sleeping on the roof! 🏕️ The best part? Her rooftop campout will take place during Movie Night on Friday, November 7th, so our entire Chattahoochee community can join in the fun and cheer her on during this unforgettable adventure. As a reward for exceeding our fundraiser goal, students also get to wear PJs to school on November 7th.
🎬 Movie Night Details:
Admission is FREE this year and all food has been donated—which means every dollar from pizza, hot dogs, and concessions goes right back to supporting Chattahoochee! Funds will be used for teacher grants and student treats throughout the year.

Family Engagement
November is National Family Engagement Month! We are so grateful for our families and the partnership we share! We know when families are involved, children feel supported and loved. They do better in school and build confidence, develop stronger communication abilities, and problem-solving skills. Here are a few fall activities that you can enjoy together as a family:
🌰 1. Leaf Walk: Take a nature walk together and collect colorful leaves.
Sort them by shape, color, or size.
Try leaf rubbings with crayons and paper.
Talk about how the seasons change and what your child notices.
🍎 2. Family Recipe Fun: Choose a favorite family recipe or try a new fall dish—like apple crisp or pumpkin muffins.
Read the recipe together, measure ingredients, and discuss fractions and measurements.
Share family stories while cooking!
📚 3. Cozy Reading Corner: Create a fall reading nook with blankets, pillows, and books.
Read together for 15 minutes a night.
After reading, draw your favorite part of the story, act it out together, or ask your child questions about the story.
🎲 4. Game Night with a Twist: Play board games or card games that involve math, reading, or strategy.
Try a “Word Scavenger Hunt” using words from your child’s homework. Card games are always nice to encourage communication and turn-taking, too!
✉️ 5. Gratitude Talk: Use Family Conversation Starters during dinner, car rides, or bedtime.
Ask questions like, “What made you smile today?”, “What’s something new you learned this week?”, or “How can our family show kindness this week?”

Important Reminders
Absence Reminders
If your student is marked absent and you use our school QR code attendance form to indicate a medical excuse, please remember that the actual medical documentation must be submitted to the front office.
You may send the medical excuse in one of the following ways:
- Email it directly to the front office (chattattendance@forsyth.k12.ga.us), or
- Send it through your student’s teacher
This helps us ensure that all absences are properly documented and excused. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for helping us maintain accurate attendance records.
💻 Digital Citizenship: Navigating Our Digital World
This month, our students will dive into Neptune Navigate’s “Digital World Basics” lessons! These activities help kids learn how to make safe, smart, and kind choices online.
Students will explore how to:
-
Protect their personal information
-
Think before they post or share
-
Communicate kindly and respectfully online
-
Build healthy screen-time habits
You can keep the learning going at home by chatting with your child about their favorite apps, setting family tech rules, and modeling positive online behavior.
We encourage you to continue the conversation with your child at home! Te animamos a continuar la conversación en casa. Together, we can help our kids become confident and caring digital citizens! 💙
