Redistricting: Creating a Long-Term Plan for Excellence and Equity in Education
Hello West Seneca Families,
We hope you are enjoying this very WNY-like weather as of late. Can you believe it is May 1st tomorrow? Only a couple of short months left until school is out for summer! (Sorry if that song is in your head, but now that makes 2 of us!)
Our Redistricting Committee met on April 24th. The Committee began their meeting with a slide up on the screen that had the summary from the Board of Education feedback.(The summary that was sent earlier this month in our communications and as always, is housed on our Redistricting portion of the website.)
Dr. Krueger opened the meeting by summarizing the Board’s thinking and emphasized that the idea of a configuration was not off the table but postponed to be included in long range planning and thinking. Afterwards, Dr. Krueger also recognized that she had received some notes of disappointment privately voiced by some committee members orally or in an email following her communication to the Committee following the Board Work Session on March 25th.

Redistricting Committee Meeting - 4/24/2025
Below you will find the buttons that link you to the meeting agenda, as well as the meeting minutes. There was no presentation, just the Board of Education feedback summary from the March 25th BOE Work Session. We send these out after every committee meeting. You can also find them on the Redistricting portion of our website(and most times, even before this communication goes out).
(*It should be noted that the authority to change School District boundaries rests with the NYS Commissioner of Education; it is not something our Redistricting Committee or Board of Education has the authority to do. For example: If some of you reading this technically live in Cheektowaga - we CANNOT suddenly send you to Cheektowaga Schools.)
What are the next steps?
The next Redistricting Committee meeting is May 22 where final options will be solidified.
A presentation to the Board of Education on the final options will be presented at the June 3, 2025 Board of Education meeting along with a recommendation to the Board of the final option for redistricting.
It is anticipated that the Board of Education will vote on the redistricting plan at the June 17, 2025 Board of Education meeting.
As a reminder, the redistricting plan will not go into effect until September of 2026, allowing ample time for logistical planning and transitional supports for students.
