Thursday, October 9, is an early release day for virtual parent-teacher conferences. Please click here to schedule a conference. We encourage ALL parents to reach out to their children's teachers anytime you have a question or just want to check in on your student's progress. If tomorrow afternoon does not work, please never hesitate to reach out to any teacher via email or phone.

FAFSA Night Information:

Thank you to all of the parents that attended the Financial Aid information night on September 23. For those of you that could not attend, please see the presentation shared from the South Carolina Student Loan Corporation. Please fill out this form if you'd like sign up for a FAFSA help session. This form will close on Friday, October 3, at 3 p.m.

At this session, you and your student can receive assistance completing the FAFSA form. Tentatively that program will be on October 9th at 6 pm, however this is subject to change depending on the number of families that are in need of assistance.

Music Scholarship Auditions

Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina, is pleased to invite our students to participate in upcoming Music Scholarship Auditions on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9am-noon at Spears Concert Hall.

We welcome talented performers in band, choir, and instrumental music to audition for scholarship opportunities and explore what Columbia College has to offer. This is a wonderful chance for students to showcase their skills and connect with our vibrant music faculty.

To schedule an audition or request additional information, please email shill@columbiasc.edu with your name, high school, phone number, and the genre you plan to audition in. Once you're registered, further details will be sent to you via email.

All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will participate in the Pre-ACT (9th) or PSAT (10th/11th) at AC Flora Wednesday, October 15th.

Seniors Only!

On this day, seniors will have the opportunity to participate in activities that will directly relate to their post-secondary futures. All seniors will be required to participate in one of the activities below to be counted present at school on that day. Please complete the virtual registration on your Class of 2026 Schoology page.

Seniors can choose:

1. College and Career Information Session in the Theatre at AC Flora High School

2. Job Shadowing Opportunity

3. Service Learning Opportunity

4. College Visit

All students that attend the information center in the Theatre will be required to attend the entire program, through the end of testing, in order to be marked present.

Please make sure that all paperwork is returned by Monday, October 13, 2025. If paperwork is not returned by the deadline, your student will be marked absent.

Congratulations to Azel Banag! He is one of six Richland One student-athletes that have been nominated for the 2025 Richland County High School Football Player of the Year award. The award winner will be announced in December during a banquet for the nominees, their families and their coaches. The winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship or a college educational bundle for their hard work and dedication on and off the field.

The Zhuowei Yin Chapter of the National Honor Society at AC Flora High School will accept new members this fall, and emails have gone out to students who are academically eligible to be considered for membership. The academic criteria are the student must be a junior or senior (not already in NHS) with a GPA of 3.750 or higher. Applications must be filled out by the student and returned to Mr. Brown in room 203 or Miss Jacobs in room 355 no later than Wednesday, October 8, *NEW DUE DATE*. Late applications will not be considered. Students who are selected by the faculty committee for membership will participate in an induction ceremony on November 4, 2025, at 6pm in the AC Flora Auditorium.

JROTC cadets held the first community service event of the year during the USC vs. Kentucky game. Cadets assisted with parking for attendees. This event showcased teamwork, fun and community support. Many of the football fans demonstrated eagerness to park in our area and support the cadet fundraiser for our student activities.
