🏫 What’s Happening at School 🏫 What’s Happening at School

A note from the Principal...

Dear Abraham Lincoln Families,

We’ve reached the last full week of March, and it’s been a great one! Today, our entire school celebrated with a PBIS reward—a fun movie afternoon—to recognize students for consistently demonstrating our RAMS behaviors. We are proud of the positive choices our students continue to make each day.

Be sure to read through the rest of this newsletter for important updates and upcoming events.

As a reminder, parents should drop students off at the gate each morning. If you need to visit the office or speak with Mrs. Jerome, you are welcome to come to the building at that time. Thank you for your partnership in helping us maintain a safe and secure campus.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

~ Mrs. Ireland

Attendance Matters!

At Abraham Lincoln, we take attendance seriously because consistent school attendance is directly linked to student success. We track attendance weekly and will begin sharing our monthly progress with students and staff through a visual display in the school. I will also include these updates in each newsletter so families can stay informed.

Here is our Average Daily Attendance (ADA) so far this year:

  • September: 95%

  • October: 92%

  • November: 95%

  • December: 95%

  • January: 94%

  • February: 91%

Our goal is to maintain 95% or higher each month, and we are excited to work together to reach it!

You can help support strong attendance by scheduling appointments outside the school day whenever possible and planning family vacations during scheduled school vacation weeks. Every day of learning matters, and we appreciate your partnership in helping our students be present, engaged, and ready to learn.

Read Squad

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mrs. Martin and the students from William S. Cohen for partnering with our Abe students to support reading skills throughout this year. This collaboration has been a wonderful experience for our learners, and we truly appreciate the time and effort invested.

We look forward to continuing this meaningful partnership next year!

Celebrate Diversity Month

April is recognized as Celebrate Diversity Month, a time to recognize and honor the many cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives that make our school community strong. It is an opportunity to help children appreciate differences, practice kindness, and learn from one another in meaningful ways.
  • Read and explore diverse stories together: Visit your local library and choose books that feature characters from different cultures, languages, and family structures. Talk with your child about what is the same and what is different.
  • Celebrate traditions at home: Try cooking a simple recipe, listening to music, or learning about a holiday from another culture. Invite your child to share what they notice and enjoy.
  • Practice kindness and curiosity: Encourage your child to ask respectful questions and use kind words. Talk about how everyone is unique and that differences make our community stronger.
  • Learn about names and identities: Help your child take pride in their own name and learn how to say others’ names correctly. Discuss how names, languages, and traditions are important parts of who we are.
  • Smart Social

The Bangor School Department is partnering with Smart Social, an excellent resource that helps families navigate the digital world safely and confidently. Smart Social offers free tools, videos, and tips to help parents guide children in making positive choices online and using social media responsibly.

We encourage all families to explore these resources and start conversations at home about digital safety and balance. Check it out here: Smart Social
