Thomas W. Hamilton Elementary
September 20, 2026
Hello Hamilton Community!
Our first full week is in the books! Students have really gotten into the groove of their schedules and all the new routines throughout the building. Decades Day had many students and staff show off some creative outfits. This upcoming week is Hair, Hat, and Headgear on Friday 9/25.
The fall benchmark window will be closing this upcoming week. This measure helps teachers group their students and provide the right level of instruction.
Reminder, we also have our Hamilton Open House on Thursday 9/24 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. We invite you to come see your student's classroom and tour the whole building.
New Information
Weymouth Wednesdays - Every Week
Show your School Spirit on Weymouth Wednesdays! Wear your Hamilton, Weymouth, or maroon and gold gear!
Change in Fun Lunch this Week
Due to delivery issues it will be cereal fun lunch this upcoming week.
Recess & Gym Footwear
The weather is beautiful, so we have been having both gym and recess outside. Please make sure your student is not wearing slides or crocs on gym day and if they’re wearing them for recess,
that they choose a more laid back activity. We want to keep them outside and not cleaning up skinned knees and elbows in the health office.
Backpack Program
The Weymouth Food Pantry has partnered with Weymouth Public Schools to continue the Backpack Program, which provides food to participating students weekly to meet their nutritional needs over the weekend. Bags include items such as juice boxes, granola bars, mac & cheese cups, goldfish crackers, and milk. The menu will vary weekly.
School staff and volunteers will prepare a bag of food for each child and connect it to the student by Friday afternoon. These bags are free, open to all students, and sponsored by the Weymouth Food Pantry.
Please complete the Google Form below by Friday, October 16, 2026 if your child would benefit from receiving additional food to take home over the weekends. If you would like to sign up for the program after October 16, please contact your child’s school for assistance.
All families must re-enroll each school year so we can confirm current information, including any food allergies or dietary needs.
Weymouth residents are also encouraged to check out WFP’s pop-up pantry schedule here: Weymouth Food Pantry Calendar
Spirt Days!
Friday, 9/25 Hair, Hat, and Headgear Day
Neurodiversity Assembly
This week Grades K-2 were introduced to the topic of neurodiversity during an assembly by Katy Boucher from The Accord School in Norwell, Massachusetts.
Students discovered how everyone thinks, plays, and learns differently. They learned about Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, and heard firsthand experiences about the joys and challenges of neurodivergence from middle schoolers through compelling videos. Students discussed the importance of fairness and empathy.
Parents who wish to continue the conversation at home can use this simple, helpful online guide provided by Katy.
Grades 3-5 will participate in their own presentation in October!
Repeated Information
Nutrislice App
Need some more details about the school lunches? Like allergens, ingredients, or just need to check out the menu on the go? Download Nutrislice in the app store.
Lunch Code
Your student will have a slight change in how they receive their lunch this year. Instead of scanning a ticket, students will be required to punch in a code in the lunch line. We will support students with this until they can learn to use the pin pad efficiently.
Spirit Day-Decades Day
Parent Council
A large part of what makes our school community such a great place to be is the strong Parent Council organization. This is for every Hamilton parent to get involved in, whether on a small or large scale, working to bring experiences for our students that go above and beyond general school offerings.
Please consider lending a hand to this dedicated organization.
Monthly meetings are held via Zoom. Please join us whenever it fits in your schedule. No need to even turn your camera on! Each meeting we will discuss ongoing initiatives and upcoming events.
Our Parent Council President, Meri Hannon, can be contacted at twhpc1@gmail.com or on Facebook
