A note from Principal Ballard
Dear Families:
A gentle reminder that from November 24th through November 28th, Winchester Avenue Elementary will be closed for Thanksgiving Break.
We hope this time away from school brings rest, reflection, and plenty of moments with loved ones. A Thanksgiving offers a wonderful opportunity for students to practice learning skills in fun, natural ways at home. Families can incorporate math by measuring ingredients while cooking or identifying fractions when slicing pies. Strengthen literacy skills by having children read recipes aloud or write short notes of gratitude to loved ones. Encourage critical thinking through puzzles, board games, or planning simple parts of the holiday meal. Creative activities like making place cards, leaf art, or a “gratitude tree” also help build fine motor skills while fostering imagination. Most importantly, take a moment to share what you’re grateful for—an easy way to support social-emotional learning during the holiday season.
Wishing you all a wonderful and restful holiday.

Attendance Matters
Check the back of your child's folder, or pocket, when he/she is absent to update the Attendance Tracker. Please aim to send your child to school each day. If your child is not sick, please send them to school.
Regular school attendance matters, but if your student misses school, you can submit your student's absence online using the Parent Absence Note Form
WALKERS
We understand that older siblings may need to walk our kiddos home. Please be sure your child's teacher is aware of this arrangement. We have a new form to be completed by parents/guardians of students that are walked home by siblings that are under 18 years of age. Once the teacher is made aware, we will send home the form.
