MP2 Attendance Reminders
As a reminder, our doors open at 7:00 am, and students arriving to Period 1 after the 7:35 am bell are recorded as late. Students perform best when they are fully engaged in daily routines with their classmates, which is why developing consistent attendance habits early in the year is so important. While some absences are unavoidable due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, it is important to remember that regular, on-time attendance is directly linked to academic success. Your active involvement in supporting your child’s attendance plays a vital role in their educational growth.
Special Education Staffing Plan Survey
The Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) Department of Special Education invites stakeholders to participate in a brief survey to help prioritize focus areas for the BCPS Special Education Staffing Plan for the 2026-2027 school year. We appreciate your assistance and encourage you to complete the anonymous online survey prior to December 1, 2025. It will take approximately 5 minutes to complete and will provide us with valuable information. You may access the survey through either the URL: https://survey.k12insight.com/r/jZXP8c
Mental Health Resources for Caregivers
Team BCPS recognizes that parents and caregivers play a vital role in supporting their children’s mental health journey. When caregivers have strong mental health literacy, they are better equipped to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges their children may be facing. This awareness can lead to earlier intervention and access to the right support and resources. Improving family and caregiver mental health literacy not only benefits children, it also empowers caregivers to care for their own mental health and overall well-being.
Mental Health Literacy empowers families to better understand and learn about mental health. It promotes awareness of the signs and symptoms of mental illnesses, available treatment options, and community resources. By increasing mental health literacy, families can more easily recognize, manage, and seek appropriate support for mental health concerns.
The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) created Facts for Families to offer clear, up-to-date information on issues affecting children, teens, and their families. For more information, please visit https://mentalhealthliteracy.org/parents/
Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) is partnering with Backpack Health to offer free virtual caregiver wellness and mental health literacy workshops on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 6–7 p.m. These sessions are open to all BCPS families and provide valuable tools and strategies to support both caregiver and child well-being. This initiative is made possible through the support of the Maryland Community Health Resources Commission and the Maryland Consortium on Coordinated Community Supports. Please see the link for more information: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/YoKwqFnCTOehafNnIMg5Yw#/registration

Immigration Resources from BCPS & MSDE
The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has identified several resources for families:
- Parents/guardians can identify a “standby guardian” to care for their child if they are detained or deported, by completing this Maryland Judiciary form and providing a copy to schools, health care providers, and family members.
Families trying to locate someone who has already been detained, may use the
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainee locator.
- Legal assistance is available from a variety of sources, including immigration lawyers in private practice, accredited representatives (non-attorneys who assist individuals in immigration proceedings), and legal-aid organizations:
- Several immigration organizations have provided guidance related to preparing for and/or responding to immigration action.

For seven years, a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs... who just happened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world, Puffs tells the untold story of the “other” students at a certain school of magic (the ones just trying to get by in the shadow of that famous boy wizard.) This fast-paced comedy is full of heart, laughs, and a reminder that being ordinary can still be extraordinary.

Student Supports & Resources
Students can receive extra support afterschool via Coach Class and Peer Tutoring. Coach Class is offered by each teacher, each week. Free Peer Tutoring is offered throughout the week by students and advisors of our national honor societies. All supports begin next week unless otherwise noted. BCPS also offers all high school students with free teen therapy through Talkspace.
Attendance Matters
Research has shown that attendance is a leading predictor of academic achievement and adult success. Students who find attending school important are more likely to attain goals like attending trade school, college, or getting a job. By showing up to school every day, students develop a positive work ethic and prepare for future success by developing healthy and productive habits.
Our attendance goals this year are for students to maintain at least a 94% attendance rate and to reduce chronic absenteeism. A student that misses 10% or more of school days in chronically absent. By missing just 2 days a month, a student will be chronically absent. Use the "Attendance Tracker" and "Parent Tips" below to support your student in maintaining satisfactory attendance. Additionally, we will send parents/guardians a "Weekly Attendance Report" each Friday afternoon so you can track your student's daily and period attendance.
Absent notes must be turned in within 5 days from the student returning to school. Please review the Towson High School 2025-2026 Operating Procedures document ("Attendance" section) for information on Absent notes, including how to submit them on FOCUS. Teachers are not required to provide makeup work for unexcused absences.
