Things to Know
- Homework Folder: Thank you for helping your child do the homework each evening. They have been so excited to bring it home. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Cooler Weather: The temperature is changing every day and cooler weather is arriving (maybe??). Fresh air is so important and we go out almost everyday for recess, phy ed, etc. Please send a labeled coat/sweatshirt as needed. It is more fun to play when we are warm and comfortable. Thank you!
Label Label Label: Time to get those Sharpies out! Help us help you by labeling jackets, sweatshirts, fleece pullovers, hoodies, hats, etc. Kindergarteners don’t always recognize their own coat/sweatshirt- even when they wore it that morning!! Please, please label the ¾ zip blue Vis sweatshirt if you have one. Kinders remove them a lot and many of them have the same size. Thank you!
- Parent Pop Ins: We will have 3 Parent Pop Ins this year and are excited to welcome you into the classroom 8:00 -8:30 am. One guest per child please. Here are the dates: T Oct. 13, Th Jan. 28, and F Apr. 23. If a parent cannot attend, an aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa, etc. are always welcome.
- Paper Tubes: Please save toilet paper and paper towel tubes (empty) for us. In the coming months we will do several projects that use tubes and need to start gathering them now. Thank you!!

Last Week at a Glance
Language Arts/Morning Work: Last week we continued listening for rhyming words, talked about the beginning sound, and added an ending to make a new word. We practiced the letter Ll- what’s the name, what sound does it make, what picture helps us-and we reviewed Aa and Cc. We found pictures that began with that sound. For word work we drew rhyming words.
Math: We practiced counting objects and used a strategy (lining up, moving over, groups of 2) so we don’t double count. On paper we used the strategy of Xing or putting a dot when we count. We practiced printing 0-9. We played Bump again and worked with a 10 frame.
Religion: We read Our Big Blue Home-a book about all God created. We made a plate with the prayer before meals on it to use at home. We talked about what the words mean.
Science: We picked a tree to observe every month. We learned several facts about the tree- a maple tree and did a leaf rubbing of a maple leaf. We drew a picture of what the tree looked like in September.
Comprehension: We drew pictures of the story order after we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Art: We made a crow and read a book about a scarecrow. They are flying through our room!
French: Color words
Morning Meeting: We did the “1-2-3 Pop” greeting and Mouse Trap for the activity. We continue sharing our photos with each other. The morning work was pattern block puzzles.
Learning Buddies: We made 3D jack-o-lanterns.
Chapter Book Read aloud: We read Mr. Putter and Tabby and Mr. Putter and Tabby Walk the Dog.

Below please find our K schedule. Hopefully, your child has mentioned some of the parts of our day. We follow a 3 day rotation (Blue, Red, Yellow).
