Dear Turner County Titan Family,

It is with great excitement and optimism that I welcome everyone back for the 2025–2026 school year! As we begin this new year together, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible progress we made last year and to look ahead to the opportunities that lie before us.

Last year, we committed to building strong relationships, focusing on student achievement, improving attendance, and ensuring consistency and accountability across our classrooms and schools. Because of your hard work and dedication, we saw growth in all areas. Student reading comprehension and literacy levels showed steady improvement, and our district attendance rates increased - helping us keep students in classrooms where learning happens best. We also strengthened our culture of accountability and safety, ensuring that every student enters a classroom environment that is structured, welcoming, cell-phone free, and focused on learning.

Together, we celebrated many accomplishments:

  • Our teachers engaged in targeted professional development that directly supported student growth in reading, math, and critical thinking.

  • Faculty and staff set the standard by modeling positive behaviors for students, from attendance and professionalism to consistent classroom expectations.

  • Our schools were recognized at the state level, with Turner County Middle School earning the GADOE Literacy Growth award banner and Turner County High School earning the Math Growth award banner. The system received accreditation with quality across the district and the Board of Education received “Exemplary Board” recognition from the Georgia School Boards Association.

  • We were honored to celebrate individual achievements, including system wide recognition for teachers, staff, students, and athletes who are excelling in their fields.

We also saw tremendous districtwide growth in major initiatives that will continue shaping the future of Turner County Schools:

  • Opened Phase 1 of the new Turner County Middle-High School on time, while preparing to begin Phase 2 construction which will add additional College & Career Academy classrooms and spaces, a new ROTC range, brand new chorus and band facilities, and a state-of-the-art high school gymnasium.

  • Launched the TITAN Regional College & Career Academy, a partnership with Irwin and Wilcox counties that expands opportunities for students in high-demand career fields.

  • Balanced the district budget while prioritizing instructional resources and facility upgrades.

  • Implemented the FLEX program to support high school students with entrepreneurial aspirations.

  • Increased the number of certified teachers, improved teacher retention, and strengthened staff support systems.

  • Expanded community partnerships and sponsorships that bring new resources and opportunities to our schools.

  • Dramatically increased the number of competitive grants submitted and awarded, bringing additional funding to enhance student learning.

  • Added enhanced safety and security measures in all schools to protect our students and staff.

  • Achieved District-Wide Title I status, ensuring additional resources to support student achievement in all of our schools.

  • Increased our social media presence and engagement, keeping our community informed and connected.

  • Completed the five-year strategic planning process, giving us a clear roadmap for the future of Turner County Schools.

These successes remind us of what is possible when we work together with one focus: our students.

As we begin this new school year, we must continue to build on this momentum. The work ahead will not be easy - it requires persistence, consistency, and a shared commitment from all of us. But the rewards are immeasurable, because the future of every Turner County student depends on the effort we put in today.

Let's keep our students at the center of every decision we make. Let's continue to model excellence, set high expectations, and create the conditions where all Titans can thrive.

I am proud of what we accomplished together last year, and I am even more excited about what we will achieve this year. Thank you for the energy, dedication, and heart you bring to our schools each and every day. Our students deserve nothing less. Here’s to a strong start and a year filled with growth, achievement, and Titan pride!

Her passion for teaching, dedication to student success, and unwavering commitment to excellence truly set her apart as a leader in education. This well-deserved recognition not only celebrates her outstanding achievements but also serves as a powerful reminder of the difference one teacher can make. National Night Out Brings Community Together for Students National Night Out Brings Community Together for Students

Turner County recently celebrated a successful National Night Out, an evening filled with community spirit, generosity, and support for local students. Thanks to the efforts of several community partners, more than 400 students received much-needed school supplies to start the year prepared and confident.

Attendance Matters - Every Day Counts!

Missing just a few days of school each month can have a big impact on a student’s learning over time. In Georgia, a student who misses 2 days a month will lose the equivalent of 20 days of school a year, adding up to over 1 full year of missed learning by graduation. That’s 30 fewer hours of math and 60 fewer hours of reading and writing instruction.

Every day counts! Consistent attendance keeps students on track academically, builds strong learning habits, and helps prepare them for future success. Let’s work together to keep our Titans in school and learning every day.

Parent's, We would like to stress the need for accurate information on your child!

To ensure you receive timely notification in the event of an emergency or any matter concerning your child, it is important that the school has accurate and up-to-date records. Please contact your child’s school front office to make any necessary updates to addresses, phone numbers, emergency contacts, pick-up information, or other important details. Turner County Schools is committed to keeping parents and the community informed of all events and important information. We appreciate your partnership in keeping your child’s records current.

From Kindergarten to 5th grade, students walked through the doors eager to meet their teachers, reconnect with friends, and begin a brand-new year of adventures. Fifth Graders Visit Victoria Evans Memorial Library

Fifth graders recently enjoyed an engaging and memorable field trip to the Victoria Evans Memorial Library, where they had the opportunity to explore all the resources their local library has to offer. During their visit, Librarian Mrs. Christy Casimiro led students on a tour of the library, highlighting the different sections and showing them how to find books and materials that match their interests and reading levels. Students also participated in a fun scavenger hunt that encouraged them to navigate the library independently and discover new genres and authors along the way. While students learned about the process of signing up for a library card, we encouraged parents to take their child back to the library to obtain a card together, opening the door for shared reading experiences at home! Students gathered for a lively read-aloud session that sparked excitement about reading and storytelling.

The visit gave students hands-on practice in using the library while reinforcing the importance of reading as both an academic skill and a lifelong joy. All TCES students will have the opportunity to visit throughout the school year, one grade level at a time. This community partnership is thriving, encouraging students to open a book, develop a love of reading, and strengthen their literacy skills.

Science in Action: From Hypothesis to Discovery

Our 6th grade students recently put their science skills to the test by turning the scientific method into real-world problem solving! With excitement and curiosity, they built hypotheses and experimented with different lengths of copper wire to see if they could create a homemade antenna that actually picks up TV channels. This hands-on project challenged them to think like true scientists—asking questions, forming predictions, testing their ideas, and making adjustments when results didn’t turn out as expected.

Through this activity, students discovered the power of persistence and creativity in problem-solving. They realized that science isn’t just something you read about in a textbook, it’s something you actively do and experience. By combining curiosity with critical thinking, students saw firsthand how scientific principles connect to the world around them, sparking a deeper love for learning. Projects like this not only build knowledge, but also inspire confidence, teamwork, and innovation in our future problem solvers!

Hands-On Learning with Transparent Sticky Notes

Mrs. Goulden’s 8th-grade ELA class brought their informational text lesson to life by using transparent sticky notes in their interactive notebooks. Students sketched diagrams and graphs directly onto the sticky notes, then moved them around to compare, revise, and connect their ideas. This creative approach not only made learning hands-on and engaging but also encouraged critical thinking and collaboration as students explored different ways to organize and communicate information.

The activity gave students the freedom to experiment without worrying about making mistakes, since ideas could easily be shifted or replaced. It also showed them how interactive tools can make even complex concepts more approachable and fun!
