Homecoming Game Homecoming Game

Next weekend is Homecoming. The game is Friday night (a first at NBC). There will not be the carnival that we have had for the last several years because of the night game.

The game is a “Whiteout.” The official whiteout shirt can be purchased from the media center during lunches. Proceeds benefit the middle school student government, the football booster club, and the Class of 2026 (they made the shirts).

Just a reminder that the varsity football games are not drop off events for middle school and elementary school students. Any student attending the game must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Clinical Corner Clinical Corner

The article, “10 Questions to Ask Your Kid Besides “How was School?” from Time Magazine on September 10, 2025 is really insightful to the reality of parenting. The author, Angela Haupt, paints the picture of the typical exchange after school of parents asking about their kid’s day and getting the famous “good”, “fine” or “ok" answer. Haupt suggests that when you first see your child, instead of asking them about their day, to just tell them you are happy to see them or ask about food, as they are most likely hungry. She mentions using these 10 thoughtful alternatives, (not every one every day), that have a much better chance of getting to know the inner workings of your child’s life and mind. She also suggests asking these later in the night as your child may be more talkative. Here is a sneak peek at some of the questions:

Tell me something that made you feel anxious or worried today. How did you handle it?

What was something kind you did or saw?

Is there anything you are nervous about for tomorrow?

When did you feel the most bored?

What made you smile today? Is there anything from your day you want some help with?

Each question explains how you can elaborate on it with more suggestions of what to say. For the complete article click on this link: https://time.com/7315031/what-to-ask-your-kid-school-day-parents/
