Lower School - 12/18
Lower School Update - December 18, 2025
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Lower School Families,
As we come to the close of the semester and look toward Christmas break, I’ve been reflecting on the steady, meaningful growth I see every day in our Lower School. Growth that doesn’t always make headlines—but shows up in brave attempts, growing independence, thoughtful questions, and small moments of kindness that matter deeply. These are the moments that remind us that God is at work in quiet, faithful ways, shaping hearts as much as minds.
Christmas is a gentle reminder that God meets us right where we are. Just as He sent His Son into the world in humility and love, He invites us—children and adults alike—to slow down, rest, and allow Him to renew our strength. As families, this season gives us space to pause from our busy routines and remember that growth happens not only when we are running, but also when we are waiting.
As you step into Christmas break, my prayer for your family is that you experience the peace and renewal promised in Isaiah 40:31. May your children feel secure and deeply loved, may your homes be filled with joy and laughter, and may you be reminded that God is faithfully walking with you every step of the way.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children and for partnering with us in nurturing their hearts, minds, and faith. It is a privilege to walk alongside your family during these formative years, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the new year.
Wishing you a joyful Christmas and a restful break.
In His Service,
Dr. Rachel David
Lower School Principal

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
- There will be no homework assigned over Christmas break so families can enjoy this special time together. However, we do encourage students to read for 20–30 minutes each day to keep their skills sharp.
- Please send your child’s snow gear home on Friday, December 19th so it can be washed and enjoyed over Christmas break and brought back on January 5th.
- NWEA test score reports will be mailed out by the end of this week. Please note that if your child has been sick during testing, they may not have all of their NWEA scores, as it is our Lower School policy that we typically do not schedule test make-ups.

STAFF INTRODUCTION
Rachael Muir (Grade 4 Teacher)
This is my third year teaching, and I love being able to teach so many wonderful students. I feel truly blessed to have found the Maranatha community right after college. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing school.
Outside the classroom, you can usually find me exploring new coffee shops, reading, or enjoying game nights with friends. I also love spending time with my family back home in Michigan and traveling to new places with them. I am a big sports fan and love watching Michigan sports whenever I can!" -Rachael Muir
WINTER RECESS GEAR
As the colder months approach, it's important to ensure that all students are properly prepared for winter weather. To help with this, we have outlined the specific winter gear requirements for each grade level below. Please take a moment to review the information and ensure your child is equipped with the appropriate clothing to stay warm and comfortable during outdoor activities.

WEEKLY PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of Jesus and the joy of Christmas.
Thank You for our families, friends, teachers, and everyone who loves us.
Help us to be kind and helpful to others every day.
Help us to share our smiles, our words, and our hugs with those who need them.
Bless the people who are sad, lonely, or sick, and let them feel Your love.
Help us remember the true meaning of Christmas and the joy of giving, not just receiving.
Thank You for the lights, the songs, the decorations, and the fun, but most of all, thank You for Jesus, Your greatest gift.
Please watch over us and keep us safe during this special season.
We love You, God, and we are excited to celebrate Jesus’ birthday!
In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.
