Husky Highlights
Hinesburg Community School - August 28, 2026
THE PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Hello HCS Families,
We hope everyone is settling into the new school year and finding their rhythm! It has been wonderful having our students back in the building and seeing the energy and excitement that comes with the start of a new year.
A quick reminder as we head into the long weekend: there is no school this Friday, September 4, and no school again on Monday, September 7, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. We hope everyone enjoys the extra-long weekend, and we’ll look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday!
This week’s Husky Highlights has lots to share, including upcoming dates and reminders, the HCS PiE student directory, Picture Day, Lego Robotics, Shrek auditions, mentoring opportunities, and other happenings around HCS and our community.
You’ll also see a note about proof of residency verification. Over the next few weeks, our office will be reaching out to some families to request updated residency documentation as part of our regular process of keeping student records current. There’s nothing you need to do unless you hear from us directly — we simply wanted to give everyone a heads-up so you know what to expect.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and for all you do to help make HCS such a welcoming and connected community.
Enjoy the long weekend!
Tim and Alexis

A QUICK NOTE ABOUT PROOF OF RESIDENCY
Over the next few weeks, the HCS office will begin reaching out to some families to request updated proof of residency documentation. We periodically need to update this information to make sure our student records are current and that we have the correct address on file for each family.
If we need updated documentation from your family, you’ll receive an email from us with information about what we need and how to send it in. This may include something simple like a current utility bill, lease agreement, property tax document, or another document showing your Hinesburg address.
There’s nothing you need to do right now unless you hear from us directly. And, as always, if you receive a request and have questions about what to provide, just reach out to the HCS office - we’re happy to help. Thanks so much for helping us keep our records accurate and up to date!

We want to hear from YOU!
Carpenter-Carse Library is exploring what the future of our library could look like, and your ideas matter. Whether you visit every week or only occasionally, we want to know what you love about the CCL, what you’d like to see more of, and how we can better serve our community.
Take our Community Vision Survey! Draw Your Dream Library!
Both kids and adults are invited to draw or illustrate their vision of a dream Carpenter-Carse Library. Turn your drawing in at the library so we can see your ideas.
How to Participate - Survey Ends September 14
Online:
Paper:
Pick up a paper survey at the circulation desk. When you're finished, simply return it to the circulation desk.
All responses from our adult and children's surveys will be compiled and shared with the Carpenter-Carse Library Trustee Board. The results will be discussed at the September 16th Board Meeting and will help inform our conversations about the future of our library.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your voice and help us imagine what Carpenter-Carse Library can become!
Every idea matters. Every voice counts.
