INNOVATION PATHWAY HOSTS VIRTUAL GUEST SPEAKER
On Thursday, February 13, the MHS Computer Science Innovation Pathway hosted James Chang-Davidson, Director of Industry-Aligned Student Programs at Northeastern University Khoury College of Computer Sciences, for a virtual session on Computer Science career paths.
James spoke about his journey from high school to his current position, and highlighted the skills and experiences that influenced where he is today. His background in filmmaking, entrepreneurship, and computer science in high school in Silicon Valley led him to an adventure from coast to coast. This involved Northeastern University in the Boston area, back to Los Angeles in working in companies with finance, rocketry, software user interface and design, and so much more.
At the end of the thirty minute talk, students asked questions about the effect of working in many places on leadership opportunities and promotion, how artificial Intelligence may affect audience preferences of software design, and fun details about working on hybrid electric cars and rockets.
Computer Science teacher Mark Sinopoli has four more industry speakers scheduled for his students, so that they can connect the work they do in school to their possible future education and employment paths. If you are interested in this Innovation Pathway, you can speak to Mr. Sinopoli or ask a School Counselor for more information.

MAYNARD HIGH SCHOOL GOES TO SPAIN!
Over February break, twelve MHS students and two MHS chaperones went to Andalucía, Spain to stay with the families of the students who visited Maynard last fall.
MHS students presented information about our school, town, and region to multiple classes, completed a cooperative project with their Spanish hosts related to UN Sustainability Goals, made academic connections to their classes by visiting places they had previously learned about in class, improved their Spanish, became more independent, and developed their international citizenship. It was quite a week!

The Theater Program in the Maynard Public Schools is GROWING!! We are excited to announce the creation of a new nonprofit, The Maynard Theater Association, to support student theater at Maynard High School and Fowler School. In part through the generosity of a Maynard Cultural Council grant, we reached our goal of new body microphones for each school for the 2025 musicals!
