West Belmar
WB In the Bear Cave

February 2026
A Message From Principal Abeal
Dear West Belmar Famlies,
The Bear Cubs have a remarkably busy month ahead of them, beginning with kindergarten registration opening on February 1st. Please click the following link to obtain more information on how to register your child for school on the district website at https://www.wallpublicschools.org/our-district/registration/kindergarten-registration. This month the students will be recognizing Black History Month. The media center will have a wide selection of historical books, novels and series that recognize and celebrate famous Black Americans.
Congratulations to the Bear Cubs for completing the Great Kindness Challenge! Through weekly guidance lessons students learned the many ways to be kind and respectful to one another which helps make our school community a special place to learn.
Our school will celebrate all the kindness it spreads throughout the year during the week of the 9th –13th, with the Random Acts of Kindness (RAK). Students and staff will be recognized for their acts of kindness towards their schoolmates. The Bear Cubs Care Food Drive will be held once again, and all food items will be donated to The West Belmar Methodist Food Bank. Please send all food donations to the main office.
The Wall Township Public Schools will be closed for Presidents Day on the 16th. The schools will reopen on the 17th. The district will be hosting a Strings Festival for all orchestra musicians at Wall Intermediate School. Please join us at this wonderful day of music featuring our amazing string musicians.
The bear cubs are looking forward to celebrating Read Across America next month. The PTA gift auction will be on Friday, March 20th at The Shore Club in Spring Lake Heights.

Attendance Matters at the WB!
Why Every Day Matters
Good attendance lays the foundation for a child’s academic success. When students attend school regularly, they keep up with class lessons, build confidence, and develop strong relationships with teachers and peers. Even just two absences per month (about 10% of the school year) can create gaps in learning and make it harder to catch up. We encourage families to make every effort to have students present and on time, because every day really does add up. We need our "Bear Cubs in the Cave"!
