Kinder Jumpstart

Today, we welcomed our newest Eagles! The first day of Kinder Jumpstart was filled with excitement, smiling new faces, and a few familiar ones, too. Our kindergarten teachers are helping students learn school routines and expectations while preparing them for math, reading, and writing. So much learning and growing is already happening—we can’t wait to see what comes next!

School Safety: Visitor Entry School Safety: Visitor Entry

We wanted to take a moment and remind everyone of the process we have for visitors accessing our school. Thanks to the hard work of our community in passing a bond years ago, we were able to build secure vestibules and add entry safety measures at sites. That means that every main entrance has a camera and a microphone that is connected to the school office. This is the main access point for all visitors who do not have keys or badges. All visitors will be asked to stop at the outside door and buzz into the office. If it is your first time going to the school, and the staff do not recognize you, you will be asked to identify yourself and your purpose. This means any visitors who do not have a legal or legitimate reason for entering the school, would not be allowed entrance. This is why the vestibules and entry cameras were added. They are a tremendous safety tool and we are grateful to have them. We do ask that if you are outside waiting to come in, please be patient. Our staff will get to you as soon as they can. Thank you for your understanding and helping us keep our school safe.

Visitor Entry Procedures:

  1. Locate main entrance

  2. Locate microphone and camera and press buzzer

  3. Wait for office staff to greet you through the intercom

  4. Be prepared to identify yourself and your purpose

  5. Enter school vestibule area if buzzed in

  6. If entrance is denied, you can request administration assistance to meet you at the main door

We open our doors at 7:20 AM for all students. Please plan to arrive between 7:20–7:50 AM. During the first few days, arrival and dismissal may take a little longer as new families learn the routine—thank you for your patience!

Morning Drop-Off

  • Drop-off is in the west parking lot by the gym entrance.

  • Please stay inside your vehicle and say your goodbyes from there.

  • Do not exit your car in the drop-off line—our staff will be on hand to assist students safely.

  • Have your child ready to exit with their backpack and belongings in hand to keep the line moving smoothly.

Afternoon Pick-Up

  • Dismissal is at 2:20 PM.

  • Families must use the car line beginning at the gym doors.

  • Please remain in your car—our staff will radio for your child, and we will bring them to you at a designated pick-up spot.

  • Important: For safety, every student must be individually checked out before being released to a parent or guardian.

Students who walk to school may arrive from either the east or west side. Please remind your child to always use the sidewalk and stay alert for cars as they make their way to school. Staff members will be stationed outside to supervise and assist students during arrival.

At dismissal, walkers exit the school as a group and head east or west along Lincoln Street based on their home address. Kindergarten students must be accompanied by an adult and are not permitted to walk home alone.

Bus Safety and First Week Reminders Bus Safety and First Week Reminders

Please help us prepare your child for their first day of riding the bus! Take time to practice with them:

  • Memorizing their bus number

  • Learning their phone number

  • Learning their home address

During the first few weeks of school, all bus riders will wear name tags that include their bus number and stop. Kindergarten students will wear neon name tags all year with their bus number and stop information to help them get home safely.

Please be aware that morning and afternoon buses may run late during the first week or two as students and drivers adjust to new routines. To support a smooth start, school staff will ride the buses during the first two weeks.

Important for Kindergarten Families:

  • In the afternoons, kindergarten students riding the bus home must be met by an adult at the bus stop, unless accompanied by an older sibling.

  • If no adult is present, your child will be returned to the school, and we will contact you to pick them up.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a safe and smooth start to the school year!

Woodburn School District provides breakfast and lunch to all students, free of charge. Students are also welcome to bring their own food to school if they wish. If your child has dietary restrictions or special needs, please contact us at (971) -983-3050 or by visiting our front office.

School Supplies School Supplies

We are proud to provide all the school supplies your child will need this school year! The only items we ask families to send are a backpack and, if you’d like, a water bottle. Since many backpacks and bottles can look alike, we recommend labeling them with your child’s name.

If you need assistance with getting a backpack, please reach out to us at (971)-983-3050 or stop by our office and we’ll be happy to provide one for your child.
