P.E. Program Norms for all Students

1. Come prepared:

Dress for physical activity each day, including athletic clothing and shoes. Bring a water bottle to fill so you stay hydrated.

2. Bring the right attitude:

Try new things, step outside of your comfort zone, P.E. class is only 45 minutes of your day, you can give a good effort for that length of time.

3. Be positive:

Encourage others, help others, be a leader. We're all in this together.

4. Respect our equipment and facilities:

We are very fortunate at LNMS to have a plethora of equipment and many multi use facilities. Please don't take this for granted, we want to keep our nice things nice

Grading

Grades in P.E. are weighed by the following percentages.

1. Participation: 50% Are students involved in activities? Are they putting forth effort to be physically active and on task during class? Are students listening when a coach is giving instructions or demonstrating a skill? Assignments for this portion of a student's grade will be labeled as "Participation" in Skyward. (This will be their main grade)

2. Classwork: Class Preparedness/Dress Out: 30%: Are students appropriately dressed for physical activity? This is in an effort to avoid injury, promote personal hygiene, and assure students understand the need for proper attire when being physically active. Assignments for this portion of a student's grade will be labeled as "Classwork" in Skyward.

3. Quizzes: 20% Quizzes are progress checks of content learned during class. Usually, each unit will end with a culminating quiz that checks for understanding. Quizzes can include things such as: rules and gameplay concepts of sports, health and skill components, fitness concepts, etc. All quizzes will be completed in Canvas. Assignments for this portion of a student's grade will be labeled as "Quiz" in Skyward.

UNIFORM AND CLASS PREPAREDNESS

All students will be required to dress in the Lake Nona PE uniform for physical activity each day unless stated otherwise by their teacher on certain days. Only sneakers are allowed for physical activity. Crocs are NOT an acceptable form of footwear!

How to Purchase a P.E. Uniform

Purchasing the required PE uniform totaling in $24.00 ($12 for shirts, $12 for shorts) is possible through 2 options. Students may also purchase sweatpants in addition to or as an alternative for $20.00.

1) You can purchase your required uniform by sending cash with your student to school and they will pay their P.E. teacher directly.

2) In addition to paying cash you can go online and pay with a credit card through:

P.E. combo : https://ocps.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/65709/574/False/True

P.E. Sweatpants: https://ocps.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/65589/574/False/True

P.E. Shirts: https://ocps.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/65633/574/False/True

P.E. Shorts: https://ocps.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/65649/574/False/True

Lockers: https://ocps.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/65697/574/False/True

If you choose a credit card the student will pick up the uniform during his/her PE class. Please be aware, it takes at least 24 hours for the system to process your payment, so your student may not get their uniform the day after you purchase it online or potentially two days after you made the payment (depending upon the time of purchase).

*Encouraged tip: The purchasing of additional PE uniforms is a very good idea. Keeping one

uniform at school while the other is being washed at home ensures your student is forever

ready for class which is a significant part of their grade.

LOCKER ROOM EXPECTATIONS & RULES

Students will report to the locker rooms each day for class unless told otherwise. We expect students to behave appropriately in the locker rooms at all times. The locker rooms are not a playground, they are a place to get ready for P.E. class and to get ready for your next class after P.E. class. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and will be subjected to consequences as detailed in the Student Code of Conduct. Please watch the video for more locker room relative information.
