PIC Parent Update

Hello,

We had an exceptional week at PIC! With our drills and Fall assessments successfully completed, we returned to our regular schedule. Your children have truly excelled, and we were particularly impressed by their focus during the assessments. Today, all students will be bringing home their Fall NWEA reports in their book bags.

Additionally, yesterday, PIC students showcased their patriotism in observance of September 11th. Please see the photos below. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

This week, PIC classroom teachers and specialists convened to analyze student performance data. Assessments and grades were evaluated alongside teacher feedback to identify students who would benefit from supplementary support beyond the classroom, provided by our reading and math specialists. If your child qualifies for additional assistance in math or reading, their homeroom teacher will reach out to you next week.

We encourage families to ensure that their students arrive at school on time every day. We recognize that there are valid reasons for students to miss school occasionally. To help keep everyone informed, we send attendance reminder letters at 7, 10, and 14 absences. Additionally, we collaborate with Will County Truancy Officers to provide extra support services for families in need. The attendance team at PIC is dedicated to partnering with families for their success. Please feel free to reach out to our office or Principal Tekiela with any questions or concerns.

1. Get Your Mums!

You just have a few days left to get your fall mums! You can order on our new online store or send back your paper forms to your school. Order deadline is fast approaching and due on Tuesday, Sept 16th and pick up will be Thursday, Sept 25th at PES from 4:30-6pm.

2. Pre-K and K Park Playdates

Does your child talk nonstop about a new friend in class or on the bus? Looking to set up some playdates to fill up your weekends? Come by and meet other families and enjoy a fun night together hosted by the PTO on Friday, September 12th.

• PreK will be Friday, Sept 12th from 5:30-6:30pm at the playground at Conor Shaw
• Kindergarten will be Friday Sept 12th from 6:30-7:30pm at the gated playground behind PES (on Mill St. & Glenview Ln.)

Throughout the year, PIC offers numerous opportunities for volunteers to get involved! We welcome your participation in various events, including parties, field trips, popcorn popping, Field Day, and the 5th Grade Fun Day. Join us in making these experiences memorable! Additionally, our PTO is always looking for volunteers to assist with their events. Simply https://linktr.ee/peotonepto and then click the Fill out contact form. The PTO will take that information and reach out with volunteer information.

Please remember to contact the PIC office if your student is going to be absent or late. If your child is changing their route home, please call the office no later than 1:00 pm.
