Top Priority is Student Safety
At Orange High School, our commitment is to cultivate a secure and supportive learning environment for every student. We achieve this through a comprehensive school safety plan, meticulously designed to safeguard the well-being of our entire school community. We are proud to report a continuous improvement in our attendance rates, a direct reflection of our proactive and supportive approach to fostering a positive and secure atmosphere.
Our commitment to safety is multifaceted, incorporating both human resources and technological solutions. We have a dedicated team of security guards who patrol the campus, providing a visible presence and immediate response capability. This is complemented by a network of security cameras strategically placed throughout the school grounds, serving as both a deterrent and a valuable tool for monitoring and maintaining a safe environment. We firmly believe that a secure campus is foundational to academic success, allowing students to focus on their studies without undue concern for their personal safety.
Volunteer Needed
The District Advisory Council plays a vital role in representing all schools across OUSD. The council meets quarterly with the Superintendent, Executive Directors, and Executive Cabinet members to discuss key issues that impact our district. It is essential that each site representative communicates this information at your school meetings, events, and within your community.
If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please reach out to Judy Nunez at jnunez@orangeusd.org
Meetings are in October, January, March, and May.
Resources for Support
Use or have your families use the What I Need App to locate foodbanks near them or near our school site. This app can be found in your APP store online. Look up the "What I Need App" and set up the App to connect to your local area. Or help your families connect to their local area.
Use the Findhelp.org search engine at findhelp.org by findhelp - Search and Connect to Social Care. You or the family only need their Zip Code to access resources near them. Make sure to look at the resources prior to providing information to families to ensure the resource is still open, what times they are open, and what their eligibility might be.
Homeless Resources - Shelter App - ShelterApp.org is another phone app that you or your families can us to access local food resources.
Feed America also has a great map navigator to food resources here: Find Your Local Food Bank | Feeding America
In addition, you may utilize our OUSD community partners and school site resources:
El Modena Family Resource Center (CAP OC Programs)
Friendly Center (Holiday Registration and Food Resources)
Community Schools with Parent Resource Centers may have pantries with food available for families. Check in with your Community Leads!
