News From the Principal
Dear Squannacook Patriot Families,
What a wonderful week it has been at SECC! Our school was filled with so much energy, kindness, and excitement as we celebrated Kindness Week together. Students participated in thoughtful activities, shared kind words and actions, and helped make our school community feel even more welcoming and caring.
We also enjoyed special assemblies this week, including a visit from Pumpernickel Puppets for our PreK, kindergarten, and grade 1 students. There were so many smiles, laughs, and even some dancing as students enjoyed Peter Rabbit together.
In classrooms, students continued to work hard, grow, and learn each day. It has been so exciting to see all of the progress they are making this year and the joy they bring to their learning.
As we head into April Vacation, I hope all of our families find time to relax, recharge, and enjoy time together. Whether your adventures take you near, far, or right at home, I wish you a fun and restful break.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready to finish the school year strong!
Warmly,
Lisa Comeau

π Kindness Week at SECC π
This week, we were so excited to celebrate Kindness Week at SECC! Throughout the week, our PreK, Kindergarten, and Grade 1 students helped our Kindness Tree grow by contributing acts of kindness, helping hands, kind words, teamwork, sharing, and more.
The tree, planted on the bulletin board at the beginning of the Kindergarten hallway, quickly filled with colorful reminders of all the kindness happening throughout our school community. We loved seeing every class contribute and watching the tree grow a little more each day.
As we move through the rest of the school year, our Kindness Tree will remain as a special visual reminder of just how caring, thoughtful, and wonderful our SECC students and staff are each and every day. π
Soaring Into Learning with Wingmasters!
This week, our Grade 1 students had the opportunity to participate in an exciting assembly with Wingmasters. Students were amazed as they met five birds of prey that are local to our area and learned all about their habitats, behaviors, and unique characteristics.
The assembly sparked so much curiosity and excitement, and students were truly in awe seeing these incredible birds up close. It was a memorable experience and a wonderful way to connect learning to the natural world around us!
Hopping Into Fun with Peter Rabbit!
Our PreK, kindergarten, and grade 1 students had so much fun welcoming Pumpernickel Puppets to our school for their performance of Peter Rabbit! The room was filled with energy and excitement as students enjoyed the show, shared lots of laughs, and even joined in with some dancing. It was a wonderful way to celebrate storytelling, creativity, and fun together as a school community.
Budding Authors and Illustrators
Mrs. LaFleur's Kindergarten class is full of authors and illustrators. They finished their books "We Depend on Trees". These authors and illustrators read their books to Preschool friends!

Time is of the Essence!
We are excited to begin planning for the upcoming school year and to welcome our newest kindergarten students!
To help us prepare for staffing, classrooms, and student support, we ask that all kindergarten registrations be completed by May 1st.
If your child will be starting kindergarten, please be sure to complete both steps:
βοΈ Kindergarten Registration β Completed in ASPEN to secure your childβs spot for the upcoming school year
βοΈ Kindergarten Screening β Scheduled separately using our SignUp Genius link; this helps us better understand your childβs needs and ensure a smooth start
If you know a family in the community with an incoming kindergartener, please help us spread the word!
Thank you for your support as we plan for a successful year ahead! π
π± A Seasonal Reminder: Extra Clothing for School
With the change of seasons, itβs a great time to check and update your childβs extra set of clothing sent to school. Just as the flowers are growing, our students are growing too! What fit a few months ago may no longer be the right size or seasonally appropriate.
Ensuring your child has fresh, properly sized clothes at school helps them stay comfortable and prepared for any spills or accidents. Thank you for taking a moment to replenish your childβs clothing supplies!
Pre-School Arrival & Dismissal Reminder π
We wanted to share a friendly reminder about PreK arrival and dismissal procedures to help keep our preschoolers safe and our routines running smoothly:
- If you walk your child to the classroom, please stay with them or hold their hand until a SECC staff member greets them.
- Please avoid parking on the left side of the road to the entrance so vans can safely come and go.
- Feel free to use the parking lot and walk your child to the classroom pick-up spot.
- Please do not park in the main entrance loop.
PreK AM dismissal is at 11:45 AM and PM dismissal is at 2:45 PM. If you need to pick up your child earlier, please plan to come to the front office. To ensure the safety of our students and staff, we are not able to dismiss students early from classroom doors.
Thank you for your continued help and support in making arrival and dismissal a safe, calm, and welcoming time for all of our little learners! π
K/1 Caregiver Arrival & Dismissal Reminder π
As we continue to prioritize the safety of all students, we kindly ask families to follow our established arrival and dismissal procedures.
Whenever possible, please have your child enter and exit the vehicle from the passenger side (sidewalk side). This helps keep students safely away from moving traffic and allows our drop-off and pick-up lines to run smoothly.
During drop-off and pick-up:
- Please remain in your vehicle. Our staff members are outside each morning and afternoon to support students as they enter and exit safely.
- Please do not pass parked or waiting vehicles in the drop-off circle. When cars at the curb are dismissed, please follow the line and exit in order.
We truly appreciate your cooperation in helping us create a safe and efficient experience for everyone. Thank you for your continued support!
Drop off circle
βIf you arrive between 9:10-9:30, please park in the parking lot.
9:10-9:30 is for Vanpool School Buses only. They are dropping off our preschool students.
