What is iReady? What is iReady?

i-Ready is an online program for reading and mathematics that will help your student’s teacher(s) determine your student’s needs, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows your teacher(s) to meet your student exactly where they are and provides data to increase your student’s learning gains. i-Ready consists of two parts: Diagnostic and Personalized Instruction.

The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your student’s needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier questions. The purpose of this is not to give your student a score or grade, but instead to determine how best to support your student’s learning.

i-Ready Personalized Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill level and needs, so your student can learn at a pace that is just right for them. These lessons are fun and interactive to keep your student engaged as they learn.

Encourage students to take their time on the test. Encourage students to take their time on the test.

Tips to Prepare for Test Week - Dec 9th~13th Tips to Prepare for Test Week - Dec 9th~13th

Test Prep

  • Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep before a test.
  • Maintain a pleasant home environment and avoid unnecessary conflicts. Try to make the morning of the test a pleasant one.
  • Ensure that your child is present during testing (children generally perform better when taking tests in their groups rather than at a make-up time).
  • Get your child to school on time the day of the test.
  • Wish your child good luck each morning of the test. Tell your child that he/she is special and that you believe in him/her!
  • Remind your child the test is important. Encourage him/her to do his/her best.
  • Remind your child to listen carefully to the instructions from the teacher and to read the directions and each question carefully.
  • Encourage your child to stay focused on the test, even if other students finish early.

Behavior Tips Behavior Tips

The info below contains recommendations to help your child be successful.

An effective approach for building your child's self esteem is to catch them doing something right: "You made your bed without being asked — that's terrific!" or "I was watching you play with your sister and you were very patient." These statements will do more to encourage good behavior over the long run than repeated scoldings.Make a point of finding something to praise every day. Be generous with rewards — your love, hugs, and compliments can work wonders and are often reward enough. Soon you will find you are "growing" more of the behavior you would like to see.

Walkers

We understand that older siblings may need to walk our kiddos home. Please be sure your child's teacher is aware of this arrangement. We have a new form to be completed by parents/guardians of students that are walked home by siblings that are under 18 years of age. Once the teacher is made aware, we will send home the form.
