Lincoln High School
October 9, 2026
Message from Corey
Good afternoon, Lincoln families,
I hope you are enjoying an extended weekend with some of this great fall weather. Today was an important day of Professional Development for our staff at Lincoln as we continue to grow and learn together. I always talk about how special Lincoln is and I am grateful for the commitment and hard work of our staff.
In addition to our academic programming, Lincoln works hard to provide a range of experiences and support to our students as part of their post-secondary planning. Yesterday was one of the many ways we create opportunities for students to explore options and prepare for life after high school. As a district we provide the opportunity for all our juniors and seniors to take the SAT and PSAT exams. While our upper-class students were engaged in SAT/PSAT, our 9th and 10th graders all participated in Lynx Camp. Lynx Camp is a series of specialized activities focused on building 21st century skills, introducing our students to School Links and the high school and beyond plan, and providing information about Career and Technical Education options at Lincoln, Seattle Skill Center, Seattle Colleges and the Seattle Promise opportunity they have once they graduate. If you didn’t talk to your student about how yesterday went, I would encourage you to check in with them this weekend. Thank you to the many volunteers who helped us with proctoring the exams.
There will continue to be many opportunities for students to engage in post-secondary planning with supports from counselors, teachers and outside partners throughout their four years at Lincoln.
You likely have seen the kickoff to our PTSA fall fund drive: All-In for LHS. This is a critical fundraiser Annual that provides the budget that powers PTSA support for tutoring, classrooms, performing arts, athletics, student programs, family support, and more. To reach our goal of $250,000, every gift matters, regardless of the amount. Help us start the year strong and go All-In for Lincoln! Attendance Goal Update: I think by now everyone knows the important work we are doing to improve attendance and tardies on campus. I have called upon all of you for help with this, and I am going to continue to ask for your assistance. The simple truth is this – when students are not in class, they miss learning and final grades are lower than what they are capable of (10=15% of their grade is based on 21st century skills which can only be assessed in person). The good news is that our attendance is trending upwards. Our attendance rate is currently 3% higher than it was a year ago. I need to give special recognition to our 9th grade class who has the highest attendance rate (almost 96%) we have seen among all classes in recent history. Please continue to support getting your student to school and utilizing existing days off for family trips or other absences.
Tardies continue to be an area of concern. We have improved with students arriving to school on time and I would like to extend my gratitude to our families who have addressed this with your student. We are still having about 10-12% of our students arriving late to school. The greater area of challenge is after lunch. While this has improved from last year, our students leaving campus for lunch has led to about 20% of our students arriving back late or skipping the class after lunch entirely. Students leaving campus is a family decision. If you are allowing your student to leave campus at lunch, please meet with them this weekend to create a plan that they make it back to class on time.
Frequently students don’t understand how a tardy can have a negative impact on their learning. When I talk to students about this, I like to frame it in a way that if they accumulated even 10 minutes of tardies in a day (that is less than 2 minutes per class) that would add up to an entire class period of lost instruction each week.
I hope you enjoy the upcoming weekend. Homecoming is fast approaching and we look forward to a week of celebration and inviting our alumni back the week of October 19th.
As always, thank you for your support.
Best,
Corey

Important Announcements and Information
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Through Student Voices
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the World Languages Department created a vibrant mural highlighting influential figures from across the Spanish-speaking world. Each pennant was researched, designed, and illustrated by students, showcasing artists, writers, activists, scientists, athletes, and historical leaders whose contributions have shaped Hispanic cultures and communities around the globe.
The mural not only celebrates the rich diversity of Hispanic heritage but also reflects our students' curiosity, creativity, and appreciation for the stories that connect us across languages and cultures. Through this project, students explored the lives and legacies of remarkable individuals while developing research, reading, and communication skills in Spanish.
This is a colorful display of learning, culture, and pride. Thank you to our World Languages Department and students for creating a meaningful visual reminder that language learning opens doors to understanding and celebrating the world around us.
¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana 2026!

Vaccine Clinic November 17 Seattle Public Schools is partnering with the Seattle Visiting Nurse Association (SVNA) to provide flu/covid vaccine clinics for the public. Lincoln will host on Saturday, Nov 7 from 9a-4p. The location will be the gym. Book an appointment here
Important information for registration:
All patients will need their own, separate appointment in the patient’s name, with their information. A family of four will need four appointments. If you are unable to register all patients within the same time block, please choose the closest available time block for the remaining patients. You may still come together at the same time.
You must have an accepted, verified insurance plan on file during registration, or you will need to pay out-of-pocket at the time of service. Due to the end of the Public Health Emergency, there is unfortunately no federal funding for uninsured patients at this time.
If you have questions, please reach out to the Seattle Visiting Nurse Association at info@seattlevna.com for assistance.
VNA is offering flu vaccines to anyone age four to adult; and COVID-19 vaccines to anyone age five to adult. Most insurance is accepted (We cannot accept Cigna, Tricare, or First Choice insurance this season).

AP Human Geography Baby Box Project
Dear Lincoln High School Community, For the second year in a row, we’re looking for parents of babies and toddlers to volunteer as guest judges for our AP Human Geography Baby Box Project on Tuesday, October 27th at Lincoln High School.
Last year’s event was a hit, and having little ones in the room made it even better. More than one student ended up entertaining a one-year-old while the parent listened to the pitch! We’re excited to do it again.
In this project, students explore how population, culture, and development shape the quality of life for families around the world. Inspired by Finland’s famous “Baby Box” program, students design their own baby box prototypes tailored to the cultural, demographic, and economic conditions of different countries. Their goal is to present creative, well-informed concepts that would help new parents, just like you, in other parts of the world.
Presentations will take place in our spacious school library, so there’s plenty of room to move around and get comfortable. Babies and toddlers are welcome and encouraged. Our students know they may be pitching over the sound of a few happy (or hungry) little ones! The library also has space for nursing, changing, or simply taking a break.
No preparation or background knowledge is required. Your role is simply to listen, ask questions if you’d like, and share your honest reactions as a parent. We need judges for all six class periods, and any amount of time helps. Come for one period or stay for several. We’ll gladly take whatever time you can give!
If you’re interested, please fill out this quick volunteer form so we can schedule you:
Don’t have a little one at home right now? Please pass this along to a friend, neighbor, or family member who does.
Thank you for helping our students connect classroom learning to real family experiences. Your perspective makes this project truly meaningful.
With gratitude, The AP Human Geography Teachers Michael, Maggie and Dan
Food Pantries at Lincoln for Students In-Need
Hello, Lynx Families. Did you know that hunger interferes with a student’s ability to focus, learn, complete schoolwork and build and strengthen social-emotional skills? Not all of our students can afford the extra expense of snacks. To alleviate student hunger, Lincoln will be restocking food pantries that select staff have in their spaces. We are requesting the following food donations:
Granola bars (no nuts, please)
Chips
Smart Food
Pirate’s Booty
Cup o Noodles
Microwavable Mac & Cheese
Fruit gummies
Beef sticks
Please deliver snack donations to the Main Office or send in with your student.

Senior Information - Class of 2027
Our Senior Deadlines and Due Data will be published in January of 2027. Graduation date has not yet been provided. As soon as we hear from district what the date is, we will send that out to senior families. Throughout the year we will publish any important senior information in this section of the newsletter.
- 10/5-10/8: College Career Application drop-in support in Counseling Center at lunch
- 10/1: FAFSA/WAFSA for 27-28 school year opens
- 10/6: College Application and Financial Aid Night at 6pm in Library
- 10/8: SAT Exam at Lincoln for 12th graders
- Starting November: Early Action and Early Decision Deadlines for many 4=year schools (check individual schools you are applying to)
The Seattle Promise Application for the Class of 2027 is officially open!
One of the best parts about supporting young people is seeing what happens after a student takes that first step. A dream turns in to an application, which turns in to a first day on campus, a community of people cheering you on, a college degree, a transfer to a four-year university, and the start of a career.
That's why our message to seniors this year is simple: This could be you.
Last year, more than 2,500 seniors applied to Seattle Promise, and more than 1,000 students from the Class of 2026 will receive free tuition at Seattle Colleges this fall.
Athletics and Student Activities
Athletic Information
Lincoln High School encourages all students to explore and participate in our athletic program. All athletes need to have an updated sports’ physical, which is good for two years. If you need help finding a provider to get a physical, contact our Athletic Director, Ms. Ware, or our Teen Health Center.
For more information visit our LHS athletic page.
Athletic registration for Fall, Winter & Spring can be found at our registration page.
While teams may suggest a financial donation as part of our fundraising to cover the costs of gear, supplies and other expenses from families, these are suggested donation amounts and should not prevent student participation. Athletics are open to all students regardless of the ability to pay any suggested sports fee.
Please visit Metro League for game and schedule information.
Clubs, Activities & Events
Clubs and Activities are a great way for students to connect and get involved at school. Lincoln has over 90 active clubs and it is easy to start a new one. For more information and to see a list of some of our student clubs, please visit the link below. Students will have access to club lists, leaders, and locations once they arrive on campus in September, and will have opportunities to get connected.

We look forward to continuing these important conversations and building on the strong engagement we saw last year. Your voice matters, and together we can continue creating schools where every student feels supported, challenged, and prepared for success.
