Leadership Message
This coming week we will celebrate the 5th week of Easter. This week’s Gospel gives us one of the most beautiful and simple instructions from Jesus: “Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” (John 13:34)
In our PreK–4 school, we see love in action every day—students sharing, encouraging one another, helping a friend who’s having a hard moment, or saying sorry after a disagreement. These moments may seem small, but they are exactly the kind of love Jesus was talking about.
May is a special time in our faith where we also turn to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Her gentle example reminds us that love doesn’t always need to be loud—it can be quiet, patient, and steady.
As we walk through these final weeks of school together, let’s keep helping our kids grow in love for one another. That’s how we show we are followers of Jesus—and that’s what makes our school community so special.
Warm regards,
Mr. Dan Holden & Mrs. Erin Croft

Consider Supporting Ava-Lynn getting new wheels!
Ava-Lynn is one of our grade 4 students and has recently undergone a major surgery, which means she needs a new wheelchair and modifications to her home. The fundraising goal for her family is $15 000. If you are able, please consider donating or sharing her story using the link below.
Reminder to return your child's Fitset Ninja consent form!
Reminder - Phone Calls at the End of the Day*
Due to the high volume of calls we've been receiving at the end of the school day, we kindly ask that dismissal and transportation plans be arranged before students arrive at school each morning. Last-minute changes create challenges during our busiest time of day and may lead to missed messages or confusion for students.
If an unexpected change arises, please ensure the school is notified at least 15 minutes before dismissal so we can communicate with your child in time.
Thank you for your support in helping us keep students safe and ensuring the end of the day runs smoothly for everyone.
Bussing
If you wish to register your child for the bus or change your current route, please contact the Student Transportation Department of EIPS at (780) 417-8151 or st@eips.ca.

Curious About Your School Council?
Ever wondered what the role of your school council is? We’ll be sharing insights into the different positions that make up your school council. This week: the Vice Chair.
The Vice-Chair plays an important role in supporting the Chair and Co-Chair of the school council. In some cases, responsibilities may be shared between the Co-Chair and the Vice-Chair, with the Vice-Chair stepping in to handle part of the workload or even leading when needed. If the Chair or Co-Chair resigns or takes a leave of absence, the Vice-Chair assumes the Chair’s responsibilities, ensuring the council continues to function smoothly. This includes presiding over meetings and managing the council’s affairs in the absence of the Chair.
The Vice-Chair position is important in supporting the school council’s work, helping to maintain a positive and engaged school environment.
If you’d like more information or to put your name forward for any school council position, please email st.johnxxiii.psc@gmail.com
Stay tuned for more insights into the other roles on the council!

Growing Together In Christs Love
Faith Formation
This week our school came together for our assembly where we recognized students for the April St. John Daily Decalogue Award. This month's award focused on students who do things that they might not enjoy, knowing that God has a plan for them.
Learners and Learning
Systemic Wellness
The sun and warmth came out and our students could not be more thrilled!
Community Engagement
Our Grade 3 and 4 Nature students enjoyed time at West Rivers Edge this week with grade 9 students from SAB. Opportunities for our Fort Saskatchewan School communities to come together are beneficial for both our younger students at St. John XXIII and the older students at SAB.
Thank you to Elena Svenningson for sharing your gift and passion for Ukrainian Dancing with our students. Learning a cultural dance is about more than just getting the steps right—it’s about honoring tradition, feeling the beat, and stepping out of our comfort zones.
Thank you to 2W for taking some time to do their part to clean up the school field. This activity connects beautifully to our Catholic faith. We are reminded that God calls us to be stewards of God’s creation, taking care of the Earth and all living things. By picking up garbage and helping to keep our environment clean, the students were living out this responsibility in a very real and tangible way.
It was wonderful to see the students working together with such care and enthusiasm, showing respect for nature and kindness through their actions. We are so proud of 2W for living out their faith through service and for helping make our world a cleaner, healthier place.
