The Spectrum SleepOut was a huge success! On Friday, March 17, 40 CVU students braved the cold and slept outside in solidarity with unhoused youth in our community. This important event is one of the main annual fundraisers for Spectrum and supports a variety of programs that help teens and young people in Chittenden and Franklin counties. So far our CVU team has raised $4,500 and we still have two weeks to meet our team fundraising goal of $5,000. If anyone in the community would like to to donate to the CVU team, you can use this link

A new episode of The CVU Show was just released. https://youtu.be/XlDkUQTzfWM Along with CVU news and sports, this week's student question was "What was the luckiest moment in your life?". Thanks for watching and keep an eye out for our next episode.

On Sunday, March 19, the CVU Madrigal Singers performed a concert with the Hofstra University Chamber Choir at Charlotte Congregational Church. Here they can be seen performing a piece that was featured on last week's concert, "Sure on this Shining Night" by Morten Lauridsen.

Last weekend, Iris Miller-Bottoms and Ananya Rohatgi competed at the State Debate Tournament against 17 other teams from across the state. They spent weeks researching and refining their arguments for the topic: Outer Space Cooperation with India. After a successful season in which they won another statewide tournament and received the award for best overall speaker, at the State championship they lost a close debate to Colchester. Other students that have competed in speech and debate tournaments this year include: Ava Flint, James Haines, Zoe Jenkins-Mui, Yvonne Miceler, Zorah Ngu, Abigail Niquette, Jaden Parker, and Myrrh Pitkin.

Kathryn Kernoff, Advisor

On Saturday, March 18th, CVU Penguin Plungers finally made it to the icy waters at Shelburne Beach in support of Special Olympics. CVU raised over $16,000 and registered over 100 plungers. This plunge was in response to the cancelled event at the Burlington waterfront due to inclement weather. CVU found a way - promises made, promises kept!

Community Celebrations/Notes Community Celebrations/Notes

It's time for the annual CVU Pride Gear Sale! Please join us in showing your support for the LGBTQ+ youth in our CVSD community by proudly wearing your CVU Pride shirts, hoodies, hats, and more. We have 2 logo options this year: our classic rainbow pride logo and a new trans flag pride logo. If you don't need another piece of clothing for yourself, consider donating an item to our students--there's an option to purchase a hoodie for a student, which will allow us to ensure that all members of our school GSA can afford their own pride gear. Now, more than ever, our young people need to know that we are there for them. Thanks for your support! Here's the link to the store: https://cvugsa2022.itemorder.com/shop/sale/

CVSD Grants

CVSD benefits from a number of federal grants to support our system. A key factor for some of these grants is the desire and need to engage students, families, and community members in decisions about how to best use these funds to support our students. We invite you to send your feedback to Sarah Crum, Director of Learning & Innovation, at scrum@cvsdvt.org or submit feedback through the Academics Let's Talk button on our website.

You can find information about all of our grants on our website, cvsdvt.org, under Curriculum: Grants. We are specifically seeking input regarding our investments for the Title IV federal grant which is intended to improve students' academic achievement by increasing the capacity to 1) Provide all students with access to a well-rounded education; 2) Improve school conditions for student learning; and 3) Improve the use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students.
