Keystone STEM Competition
On January 15, 2026, five students from Log College Middle School participated in the Keystone STEM Competition at the FabLab. Upon arrival, the team was presented with a challenge and tasked with developing a creative solution to present to a panel of judges. Their prompt was: “Brainstorm a design change, big or small, that could improve Pennsylvania schools.”
The Log College team chose to focus on the growing mental health crisis among students. They brainstormed ways to support students’ social and emotional well-being and developed an innovative idea: a portable wellness pod that could be easily moved throughout a school building. The pod would include “reset stations” designed to help reduce stress and anxiety, such as yoga or meditation areas, virtual reality “trips” to calming locations like a beach or park, physical activity options like a walking pad or punching bag, and listening stations featuring uplifting sounds and positive affirmations.
Students constructed a model of their wellness pod using Legos and a Sphero robot and delivered a three-minute pitch to a panel of judges to showcase their idea. Their creativity, teamwork, and commitment to improving student well-being truly shined throughout the competition.

8th Grade ELA Classes: Honing Literacy Skills Through SpringBoard
In November, students in 8th-grade ELA classes worked on the skill of differentiating between denotation and connotation. To help students understand the difference, students were given paint samples of a similar color. Students worked collaboratively to determine if there was a subtle difference in the color of paint samples they were given or if they were all the same. This activity helped students understand that nuance is a subtle difference, and just like paint colors, words can have a subtle difference in meaning to help create a tone. After completing the assignment, the groups presented their findings and analysis to the class.

WIDA Testing
Hello LCMS Families:
Beginning on January 5, 2026, the Centennial School District will begin the annual WIDA ACCESS (Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State) testing window for our English Learners (ELs). The WIDA ACCESS is a PDE mandated and federally reported assessment of English Language Proficiency (ELP). The families of our English learners will receive an email communication regarding the assessment from our Supervisor of Student Services, Althea Tomlinson.
Our school testing dates are: 1/26/26-2/13/26
The WIDA ACCESS assessment is an important tool that guides the individualized instruction of our English learners. If you have any questions about the assessment, you can reach out directly to your child’s English Language Development (ELD) teacher.
If your child is an English Learner, here are some things you can do to help your child prepare for the WIDA ACCESS:
Be sure your child/children are receiving an adequate amount of sleep during the testing dates
Be sure your child/children eat breakfast each morning before testing
Be sure your child/children bring their school issued electronic device fully charged to school every day
Encourage your child do their very best on the assessment
The GIANT Company, Round Up For Hunger
Centennial School District is proud to participate in the GIANT Feeding School Kids campaign!
From January 1 through March 31, shoppers can round up their purchase at the register at the
GIANT stores in Warminster and Southampton to support Centennial School District’s efforts to
combat childhood hunger.
Join us in making a difference—together, we can help ensure every child has access to the
nutrition they need to succeed.
