Cameras

If you watched our Do's and Don'ts of Remote Learning video that was released last week, you may have noticed one big area of concern that we did not address...CAMERAS! Many of our students are turning on their cameras and showing their smiling (or sleepy) faces to their peers and their teachers. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same level of comfort. Parents, I would ask you to please encourage your students to turn on their cameras for a number of reasons:

1) Our teachers are pros at recognizing that stumped middle school face.

2) Students can often give our teachers immediate feedback by their body language (even remotely).

3) Having your camera on keeps our students more honest. For example, you're less likely to be taping a TikTok challenge on your phone when your camera is up and running.

4) You're likely to participate more when your camera is running.

5) Due to the security settings of WebEx, teachers cannot turn on the cameras for the students.

6) At some point, when we return to face to face learning, our teachers want to be able to recognize you.

So, find a great background, add some lighting to brighten up that smile, and turn those cameras on! Who knows, maybe you'll get more out of class too!

If you want to see sample pictures of some of our students' WebEx meetings, see below.
