Introducing Kelso's Choices! Introducing Kelso's Choices!

Learning How To Handle Conflict

This month my social skills lessons will focus on giving students tools to handle small problems throughout their day. Many students experience moments of conflict, especially at recess, when another student disagrees or does not want to share. This can cause big feelings of frustration, hurt feelings, or escalate to anger.

Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will be re-introduced to Kelso's Choices which teaches students nine different strategies that they can use to navigate these conflict moments without needing an adult. They will learn the difference between a big problem such as bullying that will need support from an adult and a small problem that they can use a Kelso's Choice tool to solve. These small problem strategies can be used at home as well! Check it out below!

Bundling Up For Winter Weather Bundling Up For Winter Weather

The Winter Weather is Here!

We are entering the season of rain, wind, and snow! Unless the weather poses a risk to student safety, students will still be going outside for their recess breaks. Please help remind your students to wear or bring their warm coats, hats, and gloves with them to school as the weather can turn quickly. Puddles can soak through shoes so send kids with waterproof footwear is so helpful in keeping kids warm and dry! We appreciate your help with sending kids prepared.

If you are needing support with winter clothing for your students, please reach out to Ms. Sallie. Our amazing PTO has put together a clothing closet that has extra warm clothing, winter coats, hats, and gloves of all sizes.

Food Support

November is a month of being grateful for family and friends. With the Thanksgiving Holiday, Friendsgivings, and Thanksgiving break many families will be purchasing more groceries than normal and this can stretch food budgets. This can feel stressful so I wanted to share some food supports to help families get through this busy season with some options.
