About our New School Names
Michael Ball Elementary School
Mr. Michael Ball, retired Hilltop Elementary School Counselor, served Argyle ISD for 31 years. Mr. Ball joined the district as its sole counselor during the 1992-93 school year, before the district experienced significant growth. A beloved educator, he was a pillar of both the campus and the broader community. During his tenure, Mr. Ball created the campus Safety Patrol Program, introduced the WATCH D.O.G.S. program, and founded the popular chess club and Circle of Friends at Hilltop.
Scott Gibson Middle School
The beloved Mr. Gibson, former Argyle Middle School Principal, dedicated nearly 30 years to public education, serving as a teacher, coach, and administrator before joining Argyle ISD in 2006. He transitioned from Assistant Principal to Principal of Argyle Middle School in 2009, leaving an indelible mark on both students and colleagues. His fun-loving spirit permeated his campus and created a culture that remains his lasting legacy. He was a dedicated and engaging leader who inspired staff and created a positive learning environment for his students.
Argyle Legacy High School The name Argyle Legacy High School reflects our commitment to honoring the foundation on which Argyle ISD was built while confidently embracing the future ahead. As the new high school will call the original Highway 377 campus home, the name “Legacy” pays tribute to the generations of students, staff, families, and community members who established the traditions, values, and excellence that define Argyle ISD today. At the same time, it represents a bridge to the future—acknowledging the district’s significant growth and evolution while ensuring that the pride, character, and spirit of Argyle continue to guide the next generation of learners.
The Legacy identity is further symbolized through the bird of prey, specifically the Red Hawk, a species native to our area and long associated with strength, vision, and resilience. The imagery of two birds, one nest, reflects Argyle ISD’s unified high school community- honoring where we’ve been while supporting where we’re going. The red, white, and blue color scheme reinforces themes of history, tradition, and enduring legacy, connecting past, present, and future as Argyle ISD continues to soar forward together.
As a reminder, our district website includes a Graduation Year chart for families to follow during our transition years.
