Hatboro-Horsham School District
Inspiring ALL Learners to Reach their Full Potential
Celebrating November Together!
Dear Hatters,
As we eagerly look ahead to November, we reaffirm our belief that “ALL ARE WELCOME HERE.” As a school district, we continuously seek opportunities to be more inclusive, raise awareness, and deepen our cultural competence to provide equitable support for our students, staff, and community. This monthly inclusive newsletter will serve as a valuable resource for our staff and families to learn more about the diverse cultures and members that enrich our community.
Reflecting on October, the month began with Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar, observed from sunset on October 1st to nightfall on October 2nd—a time of reflection and renewal, with warm wishes of "Gmar chatima tova" sent to all who celebrated. On October 13th, we honored Indigenous Peoples’ Day, recognizing and celebrating the histories and cultures of Indigenous American peoples. Then, on October 20th, we acknowledged Diwali, the vibrant “festival of lights." Shortly after, on October 22nd, more than 175 students and families gathered for the ELD Family Festival, connecting with district representatives and community partners while enjoying games, face painting, basketball, arts and crafts, and soccer.
As we move into November, we carry forward this spirit of inclusion, celebration, and connection with great excitement.
November Community Recognitions
National Native American Heritage Month
November is celebrated as National Native American Heritage Month. This month is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the contributions of Native Americans to the country’s history, culture, and society. The month-long celebration aims to raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by Native Americans and their rich cultural heritage.
As a resource, Hatter community members may choose from different books to learn more about Native American History and Culture by visiting our interactive Native American Reading Room.
Veterans Day
As a community, we would like to honor our local veterans by thanking them for their courage and bravery.

Keith Valley Middle School Veterans Day Breakfast 8:30-10:00 AM
Below are some ways our Hatter community can help honor and celebrate our local Veterans:
1. Send a card or Video
Start compiling a list of names and addresses of the Veterans you know and send them a thank you card this year.
2. Organize a Care-Package Packing Party
If you don't know someone currently stationed overseas, contact a nearby base or an organization like Blue Star Moms to identify troops in need.
3. Thank Veterans in your Workplace
A simple thank you goes a long way. However, feel free to show extra appreciation by taking a Veteran from your office out to coffee or lunch. Keep in mind that Veterans are typically very humble and don't like creating a big to-do - simple things go a long way.
4. Support Veteran-Owned Businesses
Veteran-owned businesses are in every community. Google makes it easier to find in their business profiles via their Google My Business profile. It usually signifies via a "Veteran-Led" note on the profile. You can also use Veteran-owned business directories or ask friends in your community.
5. Make a Donation or Volunteer
There are many charities that help Veterans in need. Consider making a donation this Veterans Day to help those wounded or affected by service.
HHSD American Education Week
American Education Week is an annual event that celebrates the importance of education and recognizes the contributions of educators, school staff, and the entire education community.
