Whaling News

Dear Lido Families,

We want to take a moment to thank you for a wonderful start to the school year. Your partnership, enthusiasm, and support have helped set a positive tone for our students as they begin this new year of learning and growth.

At Lido School, our team is committed to providing students with a rigorous academic experience in an environment that is safe, nurturing, and kind. Ms. Voight and I are here if you need anything—please do not hesitate to reach out with any concerns or questions.

As we move forward this year, we know that open and clear communication between school and home is key to student success. As author Stephen Covey once said, “Communication is the most important skill in life.” Together, we can build strong connections that allow our students to thrive.

We also encourage you to review our school newsletter, published bi-monthly, for important updates, events, and information. Staying connected helps ensure that we are working hand-in-hand to support every child.

Thank you for being our partners in this important work. We look forward to a year filled with meaningful learning, joyful experiences, and continued collaboration.

With appreciation,
Dr. Ivelisse Hernandez, Principal

We are Lido Strong and Lido Proud!!

In order to ensure the safety of all students and maintain a smooth flow of traffic, we ask that you please review and follow the procedures below:

Drop-Off Lane:

• The drop-off lane is for active drop-off only. Do not park in the drop-off lane.

• Students should exit vehicles on the sidewalk side.

• Avoid double parking in the drop-off lane.

Parking Lot:

• If you are dropping off your child(ren), please use the drop-off lane rather than parking in the lot.

• Some of our staff are experiencing difficulty finding parking in the mornings. If you are walking your child(ren) to the school entrance, we kindly ask that you park in spaces closest to the administration building or on the grass area near the administration building whenever possible. We greatly appreciate your support in helping us keep spaces available for staff.

Bus & Fire Lanes (areas with cones):

• Do not park in the bus or fire lanes.

• Do not remove cones to park in these areas.

• For your safety, do not walk behind the buses.

Handicap Spots:

• Handicap parking is only for vehicles with proper permits.

• Do not park in handicap spaces without the required permit.

Crosswalks:

• Always use crosswalks for safety.

• When crossing Lido Blvd., please walk with the crossing guard.

Walker Zone:

• All parents of walkers must meet their child(ren) at the designated “Walker Zone.”

• Children will not be dismissed from the walker zone directly to the parking lot by any staff member. This is for the safety of all students, staff, and parents.

• If you have children in multiple grades, please pick up your youngest child first.

Bike Riders:

• Park bikes only in the designated bike racks.

• Walk bikes during arrival and dismissal times.

• Wear a helmet and follow all bike safety rules.

Visiting Lido:

Whether you are visiting our school, heading to the nurses office, or need to do an early pick-up, please be sure to go to our security in our main entrances and bring photo ID.

With the safety and well-being of our school community as our top priority, we have security guards onsite to ensure that all members of our community are kept safe. It is crucial that we all follow their directions and guidance in a respectful manner. Your support and cooperation in following these procedures are greatly appreciated. Together, we can create a safe and secure environment for our students, staff, and families.

Thank you for your dedication to the safety of our school community.

During the school year we look forward to celebrating your child and his/her hard work. Our students participate in class and schoolwide celebrations and/or events. We might share your child’s picture and/or video via our school newsletter, school website, school Instagram/x (formally twitter) page, class dojo, and/or other social media outlets via the district. Some school events such as the concert may be videotaped for our families.

If you do not want your child’s picture and/or video to be shared, please provide your child’s teacher with a written letter of request. We will keep a list of any student who should not be photographed or videotaped. We will make sure their picture and/or video are not shared on any media outlets.
