Music at Sage Canyon Elementary
My name is Kris Diamond and I am proud to be the music teacher at Sage Canyon! I began my teaching career in 2003 after receiving my Bachelor of Music Education degree at The University of Colorado. I also hold a Master of Music Education from Boston University and a Kodály certification from Colorado State University. I previously taught music in Jefferson County and Aurora Public Schools before entering Douglas County at Eldorado Elementary. I began the Sage Canyon music program and Wrangler Chorale in 2010 when Sage Canyon Elementary opened and have loved teaching many years of Wrangler musicians!
I live in Castle Rock with my family and I enjoy spending time outdoors and crafting.
A Kodály-Inspired Classroom
"Often a single experience will open the young soul to music for a whole lifetime. This experience cannot be left to chance, it is the duty of the school to provide it.” - Zoltan Kodály (1929)
Zoltan Kodály believed that music is meant to develop one’s entire being-personality, intellect and emotions. The basic elements of a Kodály-inspired classroom include singing, folk music, solfège, high-quality music, sequencing, and the development of the complete musician. More information about the Kodály Concept can be found on the OAKE website. Mrs. Diamond completed her Kodály levels for full certification at Colorado State University.

Why "Connections?"
Have you wondered why we call our Art, Music, PE, and R&S classes "connections?" This blog post, written by a fellow music educator, explains our shift several years ago from the traditional title of "specials." Dear Everyone: Stop Calling Us "Specials"
Wrangler Chorale
The Wrangler Chorale is our before-school choir opportunity for students in 4th and 5th grade. Information can be found on the Wrangler Chorale smore.
