Notes from the North Park Hive

Dear Families,

I truly cannot believe it is the month of March. I feel like January and February were a blur or snowstorms, sickness and celebrations. March is historically a HUGE month of growth for our students. We look forward to seeing how students continue to grow and thrive at NPES.

Thank you for participating in our high attendance day last Wednesday. Our attendance was 94.8, which is exceptional for us! We had very few tardies that day. Way to go!! Keep up the good work.

This week is I LOVE TO READ WEEK!!!! We LOVE celebrating reading - especially with our little ones. It is so important to develop lifelong habits as readers and it starts in preschool and kindergarten! I hope you will join us in all the I Love to Read week fun (details further down in the newsletter). Most importantly, I want to challenge you to help us fill our reading tree this month. Our tree has not been as full in recent months and in previous years, we barely had space for all the leaves. Right now it is looking a little sad. All you have to do is read books together, send in the leaves and your child earns cool stickers (like the ones at the doctor's office). They love adding their leaves and they are reading with you - win win!

This week is also National School Breakfast Week! We are SO thankful to have a nutritional and yummy free breakfast for our students each day. Be sure to check out the graphic below with some great books that you could look up and listen to with your child.

Finally, there is NO PRESCHOOL ON FRIDAY due to the early registration event. If your child is coming to kindergarten, even if they are a current NPES student, please come out to this event from 9:00-2:00. You come and go and it will not take a long time.

We LOVE our cafeteria staff and appreciate them!

We are so excited about our big preschool and kindergarten early registration day event! Each year, we register kindergarten students and have screeners for preschoolers in March. This is an important event for your children and our school! This year's event is March 6th from 9:00-2:00. If your child is coming to kindergarten, it is very important for him/her to attend this event. Even if your child is a current NPES preschooler, we still want you to attend. You will complete paperwork while we do some activities with your child. Your child will also get free gifts and items to take home! We can't wait to see you there.

I Love to Read Week is celebrated nationally across the US, and we LOVE to celebrate literacy here at NPES. We made our I Love to Read Week OCEAN THEMED to go along with our "Dive into Learning" theme this school year. Join in with us the first week of March!

WE CRUSHED OUR GOAL! We raised over $9000 for the American Heart Association. WOW! Thank you for your generosity and for helping to invest in our school AND an organization that helps thousands of children around the country. It is near and dear to my heart, and I am personally very proud of our school and grateful!

Check out our top earners! We will celebrate all of our students with a special prize at our assembly tomorrow and give out the top prize awards as well.
