Big Sports Moments Big Sports Moments

The Strongsville Middle School Wrestling Team continues to excel in their season, boasting an impressive record of 2 for 2 in invitationals. Most recently, they secured a victory at the Holiday Havoc tournament in Streetsboro over winter break. After winning the GCC championship they now have a belt for their waste and shoulder. A fete even Stone Cold would be proud of!

In addition to their invitational success, the team holds a record of 6-2 in wrestling duals.

Next up for the team is the GCC individual tournament in Mentor on Saturday!!

Great job fellas!

Boys Basketball Big Moments

The 8th Grade Boys Basketball White Team continues to impress this season, remaining undefeated after a thrilling victory against Medina. The team showcased their resilience by overcoming a 10-point deficit to secure the win.

In this exciting game, two players earned new nicknames reflecting their outstanding performances. Jacob Smalheer, now known as "The Glove," made a crucial steal when the team was down by one with just a couple of seconds left on the clock. This pivotal play set the stage for Johnny Schulz, who earned the nickname "Mr. Big Shot" by hitting the game-winning basket as time expired.

Additionally- Congratulations to the 8th Grade Boys Basketball Green Team on their continued success! Their run has been truly incredible. Keep up the great work!

Girls Basketball Big Moments

I am pleased to share some wonderful news about our 7th and 8th Grade Girls Green Basketball Teams. For the first time in my career, I received a call from another Athletic Director the day after a contest, complimenting how polite and courteous our girls were to him and the rest of the staff at Mentor.

Their exemplary behavior truly embodies what it means to be a Model Mustang. As a result of their outstanding conduct, the teams have earned themselves a pizza party!

Congratulations to our girls for not only showcasing their skills on the court but also for representing our school with such grace and respect. Keep up the fantastic work!

Sports Fan Etiquette

Strongsville City Schools, its students, its staff, and its services are all part of a first class community. The roots of our first class nature are derived from the actions of the great families that comprise Strongsville. With that said, being first class doesn't mean being perfect in all actions. In part, it means having the desire, open-mindedness and skillset to get better when needed. Last year some of our students, perhaps unknowingly, engaged in some unsportsmanlike conduct from the bleachers at some recent athletic contests. Most of us know that being good neighbors to our opponents, their fans and the officials is a part of being first class. It might not be known to many middle school aged students who are starting to experience their first sense of freedom.

I am strongly encouraging all families to have the following conversation with your middle school aged child. Please inform them that the only acceptable behavior at sporting event is being positive. Any negative behavior/speech is strictly prohibited. Below is a brief explanation as it relates to acceptable and unacceptable fan behavior. Thank you for your cooperation!
