Vehicle Transport of Students Vehicles transporting students to school need to drive around the back of the school and drop children off at the doors on the north side of the building. The driveway is two lanes but both lanes go the same direction. Enter the driveway closest to the school sign and athletic fields. Students in grades 1, 2, 4, and 5 will use entry #14/1st set, the doors by the first grade rooms. Students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and grade 3 will use entry #15/2nd set, the doors by the Pre-K classrooms. Parents should not park and fill the left most lane prior to 7:40. Parents using before care as well as school staff need access to exit campus and cannot do so if both lanes are blocked. Vehicles transporting students from school at 3:00 need to drive around the back of the school and park by the gym where students will exit the building.
Parents dropping off multiple students may make only one stop dropping off all students at the youngest child's entry door.
Parents, PLEASE STAY IN YOUR CAR when dropping off and picking up students. Staff will assist students getting out of cars and into the building.
MNPS HelpMe App
We are excited to introduce the HELPme app – a 24/7 support system for students, families, and school employees.
The HELPme app empowers every member of our school community to seek support whenever they need it, while remaining completely anonymous!
Whether it's a student battling bullying, a family in need of food or shelter, a school employee feeling overwhelmed, or anyone facing a personal challenge – HELPme is here to support us.
The HELPme app provides three ways for our school community to ask for and receive help:
- GET RESOURCES is a safe space for users to explore essential needs and wellness resources at their own pace. It provides a confidential way to connect with local resources, ensuring privacy and dignity for those seeking assistance.
- CRISIS TEXT LINE provides users with immediate mental health support. With a network of 27,000+ trained crisis counselors, users can text with a counselor (day or night), making sure no one feels isolated in their time of need. Counselors are available 24/7, 365 days of the year.
- ASK FOR HELP is an anonymous communication channel between users and designated school personnel. It allows users to request help directly from their school without the pressure of disclosing their identity. Users may also request help for a friend or family member.
We kindly urge all parents to download the app. HELPme is not only a support system for your children, but also for YOU.
Getting Started with HELPme:
- Download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Select your school from the dropdown menu or enter the code provided by the school.
- Accept the Terms & Conditions.
LiveSchool & Hawk Houses
We are once again leveraging LiveSchool as one of our Tier I positive behavior support strategies. LiveSchool is a platform on which students can earn points daily and over time and then cash them in for varied rewards and experiences. The best part is that parents also have access to see their child's progress!
https://help.whyliveschool.com/en/articles/6360595-get-started-with-liveschool-s-parent-app
Additionally, we have assigned our students to 1 of 4 houses so that students across grade levels can work together and compete in varied challenges to earn house celebration opportunities.
Be on the lookout for more communication from your child's teacher and the school about LiveSchool this year.
Student Cellphones & Social Media
Please note that ALL electronic devices capable of capturing photos, taking video, wireless messaging, and audio/video calling must remain in a student's backpack and powered off at all times.
School community issues involving Social Media and Texting will not be tolerated. While the vast majority of these issues occur outside of school hours, they can have a lasting negative impact on peer relationships and the school community.
As a parent who provides your child with an electronic device, you have a responsibility to check your child's access and involvement with messaging apps and social media on a regular basis. Doing so can not only curtail any issues later on but it will also better ensure the safety and wellbeing of your own child.
For your reference, I am noting below some of the discipline codes related to electronic devices:
- 203 - Electronic and/or Wireless Communication Devices
- 315 - Inappropriate Use of Electronic Devices and/or Wireless Communication Devices
- 406 - Cyberbullying
The MNPS Parent Student Handbook defines and outlines all discipline codes and is accessible at https://www.mnps.org/students-families/handbook/discipline-responses/discipline-tables
My Stop App for Families of Bus riders!!
Versatrans My Stop® is a mobile application that allows parents to access the location of their student’s bus and estimated time of arrival (ETA) to the bus stop. This solution will help each student board the bus on time by displaying the location of the student’s assigned school bus, as well as the estimated time of arrival to his or her stop. This will save time for parents and district employees by making it easy to access bus route information. This will reduce the amount of incoming calls to the transportation department. Parents can quickly retrieve the information they require from anywhere on their mobile device.
Follow Existing MNPS Bus Guidelines
The My Stop App will not change existing policies or guidelines for safe transportation of MNPS students including:
Students must arrive at the bus stop 10 minutes prior to bus arrival.
All students must board and leave the bus at their assigned stops.
In the event of severe weather, school closing information is available on the local television and radio stations, and mnps.org website or by calling (615) 259-INFO (4636).
Bus routes may be delayed at times, so we are offering families a mobile-ready option to see exactly where their child’s school bus is, and an approximate time
the bus will arrive at their child’s bus stop!
Getting the App
My Stop is part of the MNPS Tyler Versatrans Transportation software suite. The mobile app is available for download on iPhones and Android mobile devices.
Search for My Stop in the app or play store and select “Versatrans My Stop.” (Please note there are several My Stop apps, so please make sure you choose the Versatrans version.)
Here’s how you log into My Stop:
- Download the MyStop App in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Search "MyStop" by Versatrans with the logo above.
- Open the My Stop App to select "Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (Tennessee)"
- Enter the Username (Student ID) and Password (Student Date of Birth - MMDDYYYY)
Benefits and Limitations
My Stop is designed to show a school bus’s location on a map, as well as the estimated time of arrival to a student’s specific bus stop. The bus’s location automatically updates every 1 to 2 minutes, meaning the estimated arrival time is continually updated to reflect any delays that occur while the route is delayed.
Unforeseen issues that occur will impair your ability to see accurate location or timing of your students’ bus arrival. If you experience one or more problems, please use the estimated bus stop time provided.
The following limitations could affect your ability to see the bus:
Bus Substitution: If the bus does not appear to be moving or arrival time data is missing, the bus running the route may have been changed and this is not be reflected in My Stop. Please have your student at the assigned bus stop 10 minutes before the estimated arrival time . If the app states “Bus is not running scheduled route” or “Bus is not active,” it does not mean there is a problem with the bus. All of our buses run multiple route each morning and afternoon. These messages may occur when a bus is in between routes or out of service for normal maintenance work and/or required Department of Transportation inspections. If you are waiting for the PM drop off, please contact the FIC at (615) 259-INFO to get the estimated arrival time.
Multiple Student Household: If you are not able to see more than one student’s bus route and arrival information at the same time in the application – please contact the FIC and provide your name, and the student’s full name and ID number. This may be due to the student not being linked to your family ID. Once this connection is made, you will see all your students bus arrival information in the application.
My Stop Mobile App or Network Issue: The My Stop data automatically refreshes the location of the school bus every 1 to 2 minutes. If My Stop does not show updated arrival time, or the map is not current (the bus has dropped off your student), the application may need to be removed and reinstalled. If this does not resolve the problem, please email Transportation at familyinfo@mnps.org with your contact information and someone will follow up with you.
