As the weather turns cooler, we’re excited to step into the fall season here at MCA. Next week, our Fall Fest spirit week begins with dress up days, special events, and our middle school dodgeball tournament. Please join in the festivities and enjoy the spirit of community that makes MCA so special.

After reading and discussing a series of suspenseful short stories in Unit 1, Mrs. Huether's Grade 8 Honors English class wrote suspenseful stories incorporating characteristics of suspenseful literature using the setting of their story, imagery, and foreshadowing to engage their reader. They were required to write a 2–5 page story, and many begged to write more!

After a couple of Writer's Workshop days in class, they shared their stories in groups on Thursday. It was so fun for me to watch and hear them share the stories they created with each other!

Next week is Fall Fest at MCA, and our Middle School students have a full week of fun activities and dress-up days planned. One of the highlights will be the Dodgeball Tournament on Thursday during Character Hour—families are welcome to join us and cheer on the students!

• Thursday: Color Wars (Dodgeball Tournament)

Mark your calendars and register early! Our Middle School Movie Night, hosted by PWP, is coming up on Saturday, October 11! Students in Grade 5–8 are invited to enjoy an evening of food, fun, and a family-friendly movie with friends.

• Bring a blanket to sit on.
• Drop off begins at 6:30 pm and pick up promptly at 9:00.

• Dates: October 11,18, 25, and November 8 and 15
• Time: 10:00 am–12:00 pm
• Grade: 2–5

GIRLS BASKETBALL 3 vs 3 DEVELOPMENTAL LEAGUE

• Make your own MCA team of 3 and compete in this league.
• September 29–November 5
• Grade: 4–8
• Registration deadline is September 25
• Cost: $200/team or $50/individual

• Tryouts will be held in early-October if there are enough interested girls to form a team.
