Dear 5th & 6th Grade Families,

Fifth and sixth graders will be administered a survey on Monday, March 23, 2026, that will provide us with information to better meet the needs of our students. The Casel survey provides data regarding students’ development of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. A copy of the survey is available at this link. If you would prefer your student not participate in this survey, please contact our office this week.

Bingo Night was an absolute BLAST!! We had two very special guest Bingo announcers (Janet and Rita) that kept us cracking up all evening!!! Our DeKeyser teachers showed up BIG TIME and helped out with every part of this event. We appreciate our staff tremendously as well as all the parent volunteers that helped make Bingo Night such as success. A humongous THANK YOU to Nicole Luebs for running such a fantastic event for our dolphins. Be sure to check out photos from this amazing night on our DeKeyser PTCG Facebook page. We hope you all had as much fun as we did!!

Please be on the lookout for a note coming home for our Mother/Son Game Night scheduled for Wednesday, April 8th at Free Play Pinball Arcade! Our DeKeyser boys are invited to a special night out with their mom, aunt, grandma, or special lady in their life to play arcade games, foosball, darts, bubble hockey, racing games, and more! The event is $40/couple and $15 for additional sons and runs from 5:30-7:30pm. Forms and payment are due by Friday, March 27th before Spring Break. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our first Big Air fundraiser is coming up next week on Friday, March 20th from 4:00-10:00pm at the Sterling Heights location on Hall Rd/Hayes. Big Air is excited to give back 25% of proceeds to DeKeyser for any families that attend. Be sure to mention that you're from our school when you arrive and have TONS of fun!!

Lastly, don't forgot that St. Patrick's Day is on Tuesday, March 17th and we get to show our teachers how LUCKY we are to have them! You may consider bringing your teacher something special to show them how LUCKY we are, how GOLDEN they are, and how our beloved teachers and staff go over the RAINBOW for our dolphins every day. Have a wonderful weekend!

Students in grades 3-6, along with their parents and guardians, are invited to attend a Family Game Night at Henry Ford II High School on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. This event is co-sponsored by Mind Education, the parent company of ST Math, which is being used in grades 3-6.

We are asking for your support to help keep our students safe. If you plan to volunteer in our classrooms, work directly with a student and/or chaperone a field trip, etc. you will need to have a volunteer background check on file. The new volunteer application form is located at this link: www.uticak12.org/volunteer. The background check involves multiple state and federal law enforcement databases. We greatly appreciate the involvement of our families and the difference you make at DeKeyser Elementary. Thank you for your partnership with this extra step that will improve safety in our school.

A few reminders:

Please have all required documentation ready before you begin.
The application must be completed in one sitting.
One application can be used for multiple schools
Once approved, you will be cleared to volunteer in UCS schools

Utica Community Schools is pleased to provide an opportunity for School Age Child Care (SACC)!

DeKeyser Options are as follows:

Morning SACC: Monday - Friday 6: 45 am - 9:05 am (Currently registering on a waitlist)

Afternoon SACC: Monday - Friday 3:55 pm – 6:00 pm at Messmore Elementary

Students will be bussed to this location after school.

The 2026-2027 PreK for All pre-application opens December 9, 2025. PreK for All is a free preschool program funded through the Michigan Department of Education, Please see the attached flyer (14A).

To be eligible for the 2026-2027 school year, children must be four years old on or before September 1, 2026.
