Rocket Family Weekly Update - Welcome!!

Dear Rocket Families,

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful weekend! I understand there is quite a bit of sickness going around (I myself at the end of last week), but please do ensure you send your student to school if possible! I assure you we will give you a call if a student needs to come home! Students should be fever free for 24 hours!!

We had another wonderful week at Rutherfordton Elementary and are looking forward to beginning week 3! If you have not already, PLEASE ensure you review our Bus Expectations and Procedures with your child if they are a bus rider. These were shared last week due to concerning behaviors on the bus. As I mentioned, SAFETY is our top priority and I will not hesitate to suspend bus privileges for students if behaviors persist.

This week is a busy one for us as we continue and begin various student assessments:

Students in grade 3 will take the Beginning of Grade 3 on Monday. This is a reading assessment.
Students in grades K-3 will continue with mClass Assessments. These literacy assessments help us determine areas where students are excelling and areas where we may need to intervene.
NWEA MAP assessments will begin for students in grades K-5. MAP assessments are given in the areas of reading and math and are administered three times each year (fall, winter, and spring). These assessments assist us in monitoring the progress of students throughout the year.
It is ESSENTIAL that your student arrives ON TIME each day!!!!

Our school's 50/50 fundraiser is in full swing!!! Tickets are $10 each. We are hoping this will be a very successful fundraiser for our school AND bring someone some much needed extra cash around the holidays. Parents/ Guardians must request tickets.

Tech fees are due TOMORROW, Monday, August 26. Please see the link below.

Finally, just a reminder that next Monday, September 2, we will celebrate Labor Day. Next Monday will be a holiday for both students and staff. May we all enjoy one last LONG weekend before summer comes to an official end!
