Tree Planting Tree Planting

The cool weather and rain didn’t stop our elementary students from helping the Town of Akron plant new trees around the swimming pool. Classes were split into groups, and prior to planting, students were educated on the importance of trees. Then, everyone had the opportunity to help backfill the holes.

5th Grade Science 5th Grade Science

Our 5th grade students are learning about chemical changes and the key signs that indicate this kind of change. They put their learning into action using water and Alka-Seltzer in film canisters (yes, the kind that held 35mm rolls of film… back in the day 😂) to create a reaction that launched them into the air.

From fizzing gas production to a little pressure-powered “boom,” students got a hands-on look at science in action. Science is always better when you can make it go boom! 💥

Baseball Baseball

On Monday, the Rams took on the Burlington Cougars and the bats were rolling in a strong 13-3 victory. The offense came alive at the plate, with timely hitting and aggressive base running helping power the Rams to the win. The team showed great energy from start to finish and continues to build momentum at the right time.

The Rams hosted the first round of Districts on Wednesday and battled their way to a hard-fought 10-0 win over Caliche. The Rams came through with solid pitching, sharp plays in the field, and clutch moments when it mattered most to advance in postseason play.

The Rams will continue District action Saturday in Peetz beginning at 12 noon. Join us as they take on the Merino Rams as they look to keep their postseason run alive.

Golf Golf

Last Friday, the Akron Lady Rams Varsity hosted their tournament. The varsity crew battled the wind and played well throughout the day. Gracie Fassler shot a 106 to place 15th, and Kendal Zimmerman shot a 110 to place 22nd. Mia Hernandez and Josie Shook continue to show improvement. Great job, ladies!

A big thank you to the Booster Club for parent recognition, the parents for providing lunch, and a special shoutout to Sam Hernandez for cooking. Thank you as well to those who loaned carts for coaches and parents, the course and town staff for getting the course in great shape, Greg Clarkson for helping out, the JV crew for assisting with setup, and everyone who helped with cleanup. It takes a team effort to make events like this a success!
