Grizzly Community Update
Friday, November 8, 2024
Introduction
Good afternoon Grizzlies,
I hope this update finds you doing well.
What a week in The Den!
There was a lot of anticipation for Tuesday's election based on the importance. Locally, the community came out and strongly supported Measure Q, which continues critical funding for our school district. Thank you to all that supported that effort by canvasing the community, encouraging neighbors, passing out fliers, and contributing financially. Our students will truly benefit from the commitment that our community continues to make.
Wednesday we hosted our monthly ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee) and if was great to see new community members come out to strategies how to support students and families that are learning English.
Thursday night we celebrated the winners of the annual Reflections Art Program that is sponsored by our PTSA. It was very special to recognize students for their creativity in multiple arts categories. In the Reflections Competition, students have the opportunity to explore their creativity, build self-confidence, and develop critical thinking skills. The programs has a significant positive impact on students' educational experience as they submit work in categories including dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Congratulations to all the students and families that participated!
We are making a concerted effort to celebrate all the cultural months that we have throughout the year with visual displays and some interactive activities. November is National Native American Heritage Month. Staff and students will see displays around campus as well being provided access to lessons that will help us develop our appreciation for those that we are acknowledging.
Next week we are off on Monday in recognition of Veterans Day. It is a day off from school/work and I encourage you to reflect on the sacrifices that our military members and families make to allow us to live our lives with an exceptional level of freedom.
Thanks for checking out this week's update.
Let's have a great three day weekend!
Respectfully,
Mr. Ball
Thank you!
We would like to send a huge Thank You to our entire community for your support of our admin team. Obviously, we as an entire community were shaken by the homecoming incident and as an admin team we were significantly impacted. We have received so many kind words and gestures that we could not send out this week's message without saying thank you. We are grateful to be Grizzlies!
Sincerely,
The Cal High Admin Team

By completing this 15–20-minute survey, you will help shape decisions on wellness support services and locations that will best serve the African American community.
