Updates From The Principal
Hello NRMS Families,
The 3rd quarter is underway and the basketball season has come to an end. We are getting more daylight each day, and despite the recent snow, spring is on the way. When we return from next week's vacation week we will be working on getting ready for iReady & MCAS testing and scheduling students for next year. We are proud of the program of studies and courses available to our students at NRMS.
This week, we hosted parents/guardians of current 5th graders to welcome them to NRMS and begin sharing information about the transition from the elementary schools to the middle school. We had an excellent turnout. Here are the slides we presented at the meeting. We also welcomed the 5th grade students from each of the elementary schools over the past few days. The students were partnered with a 6th grade guide from their hometown, attended a few classes and lunch, and went on tours of the school. Our hope was to reduce the nervousness that comes with the transition to the bigger middle school and increase the excitement of students who will be NRMS students in just 6 months.
As your principal, I want to ensure you always have accurate information about what's happening at NRMS. While social media can be a great way to stay connected, I've noticed that information about our school posted on Facebook—outside of our official NRMS account—sometimes misses important context or contains inaccuracies.
We're committed to keeping you fully informed through multiple official channels: this newsletter, our website, our social media accounts, and ParentSquare (which will soon transition to the Nauset App). These are your best sources for reliable, up-to-date information about our school.
Recently, there's been some confusion on Facebook about our visual arts program for next year. I want to be crystal clear: we are not cutting visual arts from our program of studies. Like every year, we're carefully reviewing our exploratory course offerings across grade levels to ensure they meet state standards and provide the best possible experience for our students.
If you ever hear rumors or have questions about what's happening at NRMS, please reach out to me directly. I'm always happy to clarify any concerns and share accurate information. Your trust in our school community matters, and I'm committed to maintaining open, honest communication with all our families.
Speaking of the visual arts, please head over to the Eastham library to see the artwork on display from students across the district. I was able to attend their event this week and the student artwork is incredibly impressive. Not to mention what a beautiful space the Eastham library is. Go check it out.
Have a wonderful vacation week. We will be back at it on Monday February 24 when school is back in session.

NRMS Band Students Shine at the 2025 Junior All Cape Band Festival
On Wednesday, February 12, a talented group of NRMS band students took the stage at the 2025 Junior All Cape Band Festival, held at DY Middle School. Joining 100 other band members from across the Cape, these young musicians came together to sight-read new music and deliver a high-energy performance in the brand-new DY auditorium. Students also had the chance to collaborate with conductors from various schools and even jam out during their lunch break! It was a memorable experience full of musical growth, teamwork, and fun.
Message from NRHS Principal for Current 8th Graders & Families
Dear Parents and Caregivers of the Class of 2029,
Now is the time for current 8th graders and their families to begin focusing on the transition to high school and building a schedule of courses for the next school year. We ask all involved to fully engage in the process and select courses that meet the learning needs of each individual student. Each student will engage in the course selection process, selecting a total of 7 course credits, as well as back up elective options. Please consider the course descriptions in the Program of Studies, the current level of learning skill, and commitment to study outside of the school day. Please see the attached schedule for the dates I will be visiting for a daytime Student Workshop. Our evening Parent/Caregiver Workshop will be at Nauset Regional High School. At this time a general overview of life at the high school as well as the course selection process will be reviewed. Please access the QR code to view the Program of Studies. I look forward to meeting the Class of 2029 and Parent /Caregivers at the scheduling sessions. Please feel free to call the Main Office at 508-255-1505 with any questions.
Be Well, Patrick Clark, Principal
