⭐ PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE ⭐ ⭐ PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE ⭐

Welcome to Term 1, 2025!

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we begin the new school year, I extend a warm welcome to all of our families, especially those joining us for the first time at Regents Park Public School. It’s wonderful to see our community grow!

Over the past few weeks, I have had the pleasure of walking through our classrooms, and I am truly impressed by how settled and focused our students are. It’s clear that both students and teachers are excited to return to school and dive into meaningful learning.

New Staff Members

I am delighted to introduce two new teachers who have joined our Regents Park family this year:

Β· Miss Salinas (K/6 Canary)

Β· Mr. Nguyen (3/4 Olive)

We are thrilled to have you on board and look forward to the positive impact you will have on our students!

Meet the Teacher Afternoon

Mark your calendars for our annual β€˜Meet the Teacher’ afternoon on Wednesday, February 26th from 3:15 pm. This event will feature two sessions to accommodate families with multiple children across the school. Please note that separate arrangements for the Support Unit have been communicated via a note.

To make the event even more enjoyable, we will be hosting a free sausage sizzle! This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and learn about the exciting curriculum planned for the year ahead. We hope to see you all there!

Captains and Prefects Morning Tea

This week, I had the pleasure of hosting a special morning tea for our Captains, Vice Captains, and Prefects, along with their parents. This gathering was a wonderful occasion to acknowledge the leadership and contributions of our school leaders. Their dedication is commendable, and I know their families share in the pride we feel for their achievements.

School Maintenance Updates

You may have noticed ongoing maintenance work around the school. We are pleased to announce that the boys’ bathroom has received a much-needed upgrade, and the results are fantastic! In the coming weeks, we will also begin work to secure the area under the Stage One buildings, which will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption.

Additionally, we are in the process of repairing and replacing some air conditioning units to ensure a comfortable learning environment for everyone. We appreciate your patience and support as we enhance our school facilities.

As always, if you have any concerns or feedback, please feel free to visit the office or reach out to me directly.

Warm regards,

Jodie Landon

Principal

🌟 Kindergarten 🌟 🌟 Kindergarten 🌟

Kindergarten’s Wonderful Start to β€˜Big School’!

Our Kindergarten students have had an exciting start to their first year at Regents Park Public School! πŸŽ‰ They have been busy settling into routines, making new friends, and exploring so many new learning experiences.

Here are just a few of the things we’ve been learning about:
βœ… Sounds and letters – Recognising sounds and the letters that represent them
βœ… Talk, Draw, Write, Share – Labeling our drawings and developing early writing skills ✏️
βœ… Counting forwards and backwards πŸ”’
βœ… Subitising – Instantly recognizing groups of objects without counting
βœ… Numerals and their values
βœ… Making friends and playing safely in the playground 🀝
βœ… Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) – Sitting with 5Ls, wearing a hat in the playground, and using play equipment safely.

We are so proud of how well our Kindergarten students have settled in and can’t wait to see all the amazing things they will achieve this year!

5/6 Aqua has kicked off 2025 with an incredible start! We are focused on creating a positive and supportive environment for our new class and exploring what this will look like throughout the year. As a team, we’ve decided to emphasise respect, trust, and commitment to learning as we move through Stage 3. Over the past few weeks, we’ve enjoyed getting to know one another and discovering our unique learning styles. We’ve already participated in a variety of exciting activities, including the Footsteps Dance Program, research on famous authors, math games, and sharing insightful summaries from the texts we’ve read. 5/6 Aqua is eager to continue this journey and make the most of another fantastic year of learning!

3/4 Emerald is off to an amazing start this school year! Our students are demonstrating incredible strength in their learning, especially their attitudes towards math, and it’s inspiring to see!

Together, we’re working hard, showing perseverance, explaining our thinking, embracing challenges, using efficient strategies, and yes, making mistakes along the way. Each step we take helps us grow as great mathematicians!

Here’s to a year filled with curiosity, collaboration, and countless discoveries! Let’s make every equation count and solve our way to success!

From Playgroup NSW: Help Us to Build Inclusive Playgroups

Playgroup NSW has been supporting families and children for over 50 years, and we are committed to making playgroups more inclusive for all.

Through the Include2Play Project, funded by the ILC (Information, Linkages, and Capacity Building) program, we are working to enhance playgroup experiences for children with disabilities from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) families.

To better understand their needs, we are conducting consultations with CALD families to hear their experiencesβ€”what’s working, what challenges exist, and how we can improve inclusivity.

We’d love your support in reaching these families. Could you please help us by sharing the attached poster within your playgroups?

Participating families will be compensated for their time. The consultation closes on March 14th, and we want to ensure as many families as possible have the opportunity to contribute.

Together, we can create playgroups where every child and family feel valued and included. Thank you for your support!
