Skippack Elementary Family Newsletter ~ 8/7/23
Message from Skippack Elementary
Dear Skippack Families,
I hope you are well and enjoying the remaining days of summer. ParentVue is now open to access your child’s teacher assignment for the 23-24 school year. Our teachers have prepared a welcome letter for their students and families. These letters will give you an introduction to your child’s teacher, a very brief overview of your child’s upcoming grade level experience and may also list additional supplies needed for the school year. To access the welcome letter for your child’s teacher, please open the respective link found next to your assigned teacher’s name.
*NOTE: Student schedules and class assignments will only be accessible if online verification (OLV) has been completed for the student (Grades 1-5). If OLV is not complete, student schedules and/or class assignments will not be accessible in ParentVUE until OLV is completed. Learn more about OLV below.

Open House - August 24th
We are planning to have an Open House for all students and parents prior to school starting. Our Open House will begin at 9:00 AM, please see the schedule below. The purpose of the Open House is to allow families the opportunity to visit the classrooms and briefly meet their teachers. This is an informal "meet and greet" for staff, students, and parents/guardians.
This has been a Skippack tradition we had in years past and we intend to continue this event to kick off our 23-24 school year. We created a schedule to allow for parking and ease of movement through the building and classrooms. We ask that families adhere to the schedule below to the best of their ability.
Group 1: Students with last names beginning A-H: 9:00-9:20
Group 2: Students with last names beginning I-P: 9:20-9:40
Group 3: Students with last names beginning Q-Z: 9:40-10:00
We hope you can understand that this is a very busy time of year. Teachers will be placing the final touches on their classrooms and you may see some work in progress in most of our classrooms. Please recognize that August 24th is a very busy day for our staff. All staff will need to be in mandatory staff meetings immediately following our open house. Please understand that we will need to be efficient in our time together. We appreciate your understanding. We look forward to meeting our families!

ONLINE VERIFICATION (OLV) Information
The annual Online Verification (OLV) process is now accessible via ParentVUE for families of students in grades 1-12. The primary purpose of OLV is to ensure that our student information system maintains accurate and up-to-date information, including demographic details, health-related information, and family contacts. We value the importance of keeping records up to date, and your cooperation in completing this process is greatly appreciated.
Another benefit of OLV is that it is a completely PAPERLESS process, eliminating the need for distributing physical flyers and forms during the first days of school. Instead, families can conveniently access the information directly through OLV in ParentVUE.
We kindly request all families to complete the OLV process prior to the week of August 7 when class assignments and student schedules will be released in ParentVUE (see schedule below). It is essential to note that only families who have completed OLV will have access to their child(ren)'s class assignments and schedules in ParentVUE.
Important Notes:
- Class assignments and schedules for the upcoming school year will be released during the week of August 7, as per the following schedule:
- Monday, August 7: Elementary
- Tuesday, August 8: Middle School
- Wednesday, August 9: High School
- OLV must be completed for each child (grade 1-12) currently enrolled in our schools.
- OLV only needs to be completed by one parent or guardian. Meaning, if both parents have a ParentVUE account, only one needs to complete the OLV process for their child(ren).
TO BEGIN OLV
login to ParentVUE (the OLV process will begin automatically)
and follow the on screen prompts
For assistance, visit the links below or contact the PV HelpDesk (helpdesk@pvsd.org)
Your participation in this process is highly appreciated, and we thank you in advance for promptly completing the annual OLV process for your child(ren). For additional back-to-school dates and important information, visit Back to School 23-24 School Year.

School Supply List
23-24 School Supply Lists ~ This is a general school supply list, it represents commonly requested school supplies for elementary students. Please know teachers may suggest additional items in their welcome letter or after school begins. We encourage you to label all items with your child’s name and send them in on the first day of school or when you come in for our Open House on August 24th.
Summer Reading
IT'S NOT TOO LATE FOR SUMMER READING!
We believe it is critical for students to foster positive reading habits in order to develop as lifelong learners. H&S and the Library want your students to read this summer! Read, keep track of the approximate number of minutes, and H&S will give them a gift certificate for next year's spring book fair. Read all of the details and get all the links here.
Looking for books? Visit one of three Summer Library Days at Schwenksville Elementary, access ebooks and audiobooks through the Library Catalog in your child's Library Google Classroom, visit our new Little Free Library at Skippack, or visit a public library or local bookstore.
If you need to find any information over the summer, everything is shared into your child's Library Google Classroom, so you can access it anytime. Please reach out to Kirsten Petro at kpetro@pvsd.org if you have any questions.
Have an amazing summer!
