Parent/Guardian/Caregiver Sessions: Parent/Guardian/Caregiver Sessions:

Part 1: Welcome to UMMS!

The purpose of this session is to provide parents/guardians/caregivers with an opportunity to meet Mrs. Franczkowski, Principal, and learn about some ways to connect with your student's team (i.e. administrator, counselor, student service members). We recognize the transition to UMMS can generate a range of emotions for you and your student. Middle school can be challenging at times and please know we have a dedicated team of adults who will support you and your student to make the transition as smooth as possible. Do not hesitate to contact us as we look forward to partnering with you!

Family Presentation

Part 2: County Detective Office

The purpose of this session is to proactively inform parents/guardians/caregivers on strategies for safe and responsible use of social media and devices. This session reviews possible challenges teens may face on social media and the legal implications. The goal is to be proactive and have an understanding of situations teens can quickly find themselves in and the decision-making steps to support teens navigate these challenges. More details about upcoming parent/guardian/caregiver sessions with local law enforcement for informative sessions coming soon!

Start Times & Late Arrival Procedures

UMMS doors open at 7:35 AM on typical school days and 9:35 AM on two-hour delayed schedules. All students are expected to be in their assigned homeroom by 7:50 AM and 9:50 AM on two-hour delayed schedules. Students who arrive at homeroom after 7:50 AM will report to the main office and be marked late.

Breakfast

Students who choose to eat breakfast will do so in the cafeteria between 7:35 AM and 7:50 AM. Students are expected to report to homeroom directly following breakfast.

Unified Arts: Unified Arts:

Students have 12 blocks in their schedule dedicated to unified arts over the course of the entire school year. Some programs such as band, chorus, gifted and special education fill multiple blocks. This means each student will have a different unified arts rotation to meet their individual needs. Do not be alarmed if your unified arts rotation looks different than a friend or neighbor's. During the first trimester, our school counselors will check-in with students to review their unified arts rotation for the upcoming trimesters. Any student who does not have physical education and/or world language in their trimester 1 schedule will be rostered for these classes during trimester 2 and/or 3. Any questions can be directed to your student's counselor.
