Murphy Middle School eNews
Week of May 18th
Hello Murphy Families!
It's the last week of the 25-26 school year - can you believe it? Our 8th graders have one more week in middle school before becoming freshmen. We can not wait to celebrate them on Tuesday at the promotion ceremony! We also are so proud of our 6th graders who have navigated their first year in middle school, and our 7th graders are ready to ready to take their place as the leaders on campus.
Our last week of school is unique due to MAP testing, final exams for credit bearing classes, Chromebook return, and Mav Mania. Please review the details for our alternate bell schedules for this week here. Monday - Wednesday is testing, Thursday is Chromebook return, and Friday is Mav Mania and the Last Walk for 8th grade students and families.
It's a GREAT time to be a Maverick!

MMS Staff Super Star of the Week -- Mrs. Emma Seider
Please help me congratulate our MMS Superstar of the week, Emma Seider! 🎉
Emma's dedication to her students, coworkers, and our school is truly unmatched. She wears so many hats each and every day, and handles them all with grace, patience, and positivity. Not only is Emma an incredible educator, but she is also the kind of coworker who makes everyone around her better. I have learned so much from Emma, and I feel lucky to work alongside someone who sets such an amazing example every single day.

School Meals & Federal Meal Program Application
Food and Nutritional Services participates in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs which are governed by the United States Department of Agriculture. Families who may be eligible for meal benefits are encouraged to complete a federal meal application for free and reduced-price meals. The 2025-26 meal application is available on the district website and through SchoolCafe. The 2025-2026 application will be available July 15th.
Meal payments can be made online via SchoolCafe, or by cash or check during the school day at your child’s campus. For more details on meal payments and to view menus, please visit the Food and Nutritional Services website.

Student Absence Procedures in Skyward Family Access
We are excited to share that Skyward Family Access can now accept attendance notes! If you know your student will be missing school, simply launch your Skyward mobile app and submit an absence request through Family Access. Your campus attendance clerk will be notified and can excuse the absence in just a few clicks! While campuses can still accept paper notes from families, this added feature is intended to streamline family communication with campus staff regarding student absences.
For more information on how to do this, please visit Family Access Help.
If you are having problems uploading your Dr. Notes in Skyward Family Access, then please email 054absence@pisd.edu within 3 days of your student's absence with the following info:
