The Mountville Memo 10-4-26

Message from the Principal
Hello MES Families,
I hope everyone is having a great weekend! It's been two weeks since our last Mountville Memo, but a lot has happened at MES. The whole building has tie-dyed shirts, we had another Whole School Morning Meeting, carried out the first ever grade level Mini-Meets, learned a new building song "Force for Kindness," had our Fall Picture Day, turned the calendar to October, and we've raised so much money for MES thanks to the Fun Run which happens October 15th! (THANK YOU!)
The weather is starting to turn colder so please make sure your child dresses accordingly. Jackets, sweatshirts and coats are always a great idea. I highly recommend writing your child's name somewhere inside or on a tag. That way if one goes missing we can get it back to it's owner. I know you don't buy your children nice clothes and coats to donate them to the Lost and Found.
As we start October, we are going to hold a school-wide PBIS challenge: No Majors October. See our video link. Any student who isn't referred to the office during the month of October will be able to attend a Glow Party on November 5th. https://youtube.com/shorts/kUyaWyDmjb4
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me anytime, and we hope to see you at MES helping out, attending events, and most importantly supporting your child with us to help them be the best version of themselves they can be.
~ Mr. Sean Campbell - MES Principal

All elementary aged students need to be accompanied by an adult to home football games. I was asked to alert parents that elementary-aged students may not be dropped off, or sent with middle school or high school siblings. Come out and support Hempfield football as a family. Let's stay safe, and have fun!
Scholastic Book Fair Coming October 5th to 8th
The Fall Scholastic Book Fair is coming this week! Parents, the most important thing to do is to scan the QR code and set up your child's E-Wallet.

Our new MES Song
After learning our first building song, "The Bus Safety Song," at our assembly on Friday we debuted another song. We learned "Force for Kindness," which is an anthem for kids to rise up and be kind to everyone. If your child comes home enjoying these songs, they can be found on Apple Music, Spotify or Youtube. You just have to search Sean P. Campbell. This song also has motions which you can watch below.

Drop Off, Attendance, Dismissal and Excuse Notes
If your child is absent from school this year we need you to:
1. Contact your child's teacher via email to let them know your child won't be in.
2. Contact the office, or send your excuse to mes_attendance@hempfieldsd.org
Car Riders or Switching Dismissal Type:
If your child is switching their form of dismissal (bus to car rider, etc) please send a note and/or email your child's teacher. Our goal is always to make dismissal as seamless and quick as possible, and we want to get every student home safely in the way you want them to get home. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Drop Off Procedures:
If your child is a walker or car rider in the morning, they shouldn't be arriving to school too early and being unsupervised. If you are dropping off your child as a car rider, please wait until 8:40 when we open the doors.
