Senior of the Week
Fredy Bolainez was nominated by his counselor Mr. Roach. "I'm extremely proud of Fredy and all that he has accomplished over the past few years. He is a member of our AVID program and has worked extremely hard to succeed in his A-G courses. Even when faced with challenges, Fredy always pushes through and rises to the occasion. I'm honored to be his counselor and excited to see where his future takes him. Congrats, Fredy!"
Scholar of the Week
Lilin Huang was nominated by the math department. "We want to recognize Lilin for her efforts in geometry class. She finishes her work before her peers and then offers to help them with their independent work. She would always ask for any challenge questions after the lesson, or she would start on her math SAT prep. She maximizes her time in class, not wasting any minute to learn and practice math!"
Arts Person of the Week
Briseis (Valentino) Olguin. Valentino was nominated by their Art Teacher, Miss. Smith. "Valentino Olguin had several amazing pieces in last year’s art show and is now shining in AP 2D Art. Their big question this year is: “How has having a complex relationship with my gender affected how people view me?” Valentino’s art is brave, personal, and full of heart. I’m so proud of the artist they’re becoming, and I can’t wait for everyone to see their work in the art show on March 25th!"
Athlete of the Week
Mr. Marinez, the head football coach, nominated Jaden Amador for Athlete of the Week. "He is an excellent student and teammate. He is also involved in our JAR Program and is a Track & Field Athlete too".
Innovator of the Week
Anna Lin is being recognized with the Innovator's Award in our CTE Parenting & Family Life class by Mrs. Taylor. "She has consistently demonstrated exceptional attention to detail with her work in my class, like creating beautiful artwork that enhances our classroom projects. Her dedication, creativity, and success in class (earning the ONLY 100% 6 weeks in!) make her a standout student and a true CONTRIBUTOR as a ROWLAND Raider! Congratulations, Anna, on this well-deserved recognition!"

Haley Chow Recognized as 2025 CIF Champion for Character
Haley Chow, nominated by Jake Magnant, was recognized for the 2025 CIF Champions for Character award- the 2nd student in Rowland High School history to earn this prestigious achievement.
Haley is a compassionate and resilient student leader, excelling academically in the IB program while serving as Vice President in multiple school clubs. She is a varsity tennis captain who made Rowland High School history once again by reaching the third round of CIF-SS Individuals, despite living with a challenging health condition. Her achievements extend beyond the court, as she has founded two non-profits to uplift children in hospitals and shelters. Haley organizes bake sales benefitting City of Hope and wildfire victims, while involving special education students in meaningful service. She's an FCCLA national competitor, Link Crew mentor, and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards attendee. Rowland High School is so proud of Haley, and wishes her a heartfelt congratulations.
Photo II
Light writing photography is the process of using a long shutter speed and tracing the outline of a shape/drawing using a flashlight towards the lens of the camera. Photo II students were tasked with using this method of photography to achieve interesting artistic compositions. Here are some of the best from Photo II students.
Financial Aid Night
Join us for Financial Aid Night on Thursday, October 2nd, from 6:00–7:00 PM in the PAC. This important event is for seniors, parents, and guardians to learn about the financial aid process, including how to apply for federal and state aid, scholarships, and more. Don’t miss this chance to get valuable information to help you prepare for college expenses!
French Class
Bonjour from French classes
French II is learning about how daily routines are formed using reflexive verbs. At the end of the lesson, the students had to create a Vlog about their own daily routine.
French III is learning about the interests and concerns of teenagers. They had to create and present a collage discussing their characters' interests and concerns. Most of these students worry about the fees.
