Save your shoes -- shoe drive is on the way!
The Mineral Point Unified School District Wellness Committee is asking you to start saving your gently worn shoes for an upcoming shoe drive.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Wellness Committee to increase awareness and factors contributing to physical and mental well-being, and to encourage others to make healthier lifestyle choices.
Shoes will be given to those in need in other countries.
How can I help?
Go into closets, storage, garages, and around the house looking for shoes that can be given away.
Make sure you have permission to give the shoes away.
Place them in a bag, but don’t forget to keep the pairs together by tying the laces, or rubber banding them together.
The gently worn, used, and new shoes should be in good condition with the soles intact, dry, clean, no holes, and still have life left in them. If you wouldn’t give them to a friend, then they are not worthy to submit.

In the US alone, over 600 million pairs of shoes are thrown away per year. The materials
used to manufacture a pair of shoes are created from chemical compounds that will create health hazards if left to disintegrate openly or in landfills. By donating your gently worn, used and new shoes, your shoes are given a second chance to make a difference.
