🐾 Panther Paw Drawing Winners🐾
We are incredibly proud of the students recognized this week for their exceptional character. By consistently demonstrating what it means to be Safe, Kind, Respectful, and Responsible, our Panther Paw winners are doing more than earning recognition—they are setting a positive example for others.
An Enchanted Performance You Won’t Want to Miss!
The Magic Before the Curtain Rises
Behind the scenes of Beauty and the Beast Jr., Ms. Susan Renee and Director Maggie Martin have been hard at work bringing the production to life. From crafting detailed props to designing creative costumes, their efforts are helping transform the stage into a magical world.
DKMS 8th Grader Meara Cook-Dill Heads to Nationals
Meara Cook-Dill, an 8th grader at DKMS, delivered an outstanding performance at the AAU RWB Qualifying Meet in Brownsburg, Indiana. Competing in the highly competitive White North division—our region’s bracket within the Red, White, and Blue divisions - Meara earned a medal among top competitors in her division.
With this achievement, Meara has qualified to advance with the AAU Spring National Team and will compete this May in Orlando, Florida.
Only six divers in each age group (14–15) from each RWB division earn the opportunity to move on, making this an incredible accomplishment on the national stage. Meara’s hard work and dedication have truly paid off, and we are so proud of her!
Daniel Pruess Represents DKMS at Regional Bee
Last week, DKMS 8th grader Daniel Pruess proudly represented our school at the 2026 Greater Grand Rapids Spelling Bee. Fifteen regional qualifiers from six counties—Allegan, Barry, Kent, Muskegon, Newaygo, and Ottawa—competed on March 19 at the Kent ISD Conference Center for the opportunity to advance to Washington, D.C. and the Scripps National Spelling Bee. We are incredibly proud of Daniel for his hard work, dedication, and for representing DKMS so well on such a big stage.
DKMS Proud: Wrestlers Walk of Fame Send-Off
This week, our middle school showed great school spirit by hosting a “Walk of Fame” to send off our wrestlers who are competing in the MyWay State Tournament this weekend. Students lined the hallways, cheering and clapping as the wrestlers made their way through.
Our students also had the opportunity to walk through the elementary halls, where younger students joined in by cheering, giving high-fives, and showing their support. It was a great way to bring everyone together and celebrate their success.
We are proud of our wrestlers and wish them the best of luck this weekend!
6th Grade Science Gets Creative
Students in Mrs. SanInocencio’s 6th grade science classes recently brought learning to life in a fun way by creating models of animal cells. Using creative materials like Jell-O, Skittles, Fruit by the Foot, and Tic Tacs, students designed cell models to represent the different parts and structures inside a cell.
This hands-on activity helped students better understand how animal cells are organized and how each part plays an important role. From the nucleus to the cell membrane, each piece of candy had a purpose!
Reading Together Across Grades
On Thursday, March 26th, two 6th grade students, Erick Ponce and Joel Lopez-Torres, had the special opportunity to visit the elementary school and read to kindergarten students thanks to Ms. Kacy Amaro-Cheek.
The students read Señorita Mariposa in both English and Spanish, sharing a meaningful story while also celebrating language and culture. The kindergarteners enjoyed listening and following along.
After reading, the students and kindergarteners spent time together playing bingo, making it a fun and memorable experience for everyone involved.
Great job representing DKMS and spreading the joy of reading!
The Power of Presence: DKMS Attendance Wins
It’s a celebration of consistency here at Delton Kellogg Middle School as our principal, Mr. Tillman, hosted a movie and popcorn reward today, Friday, March 27th, for our 5th, 6th, and 8th graders who reached their Strive for 95 attendance goals. Each grade level had the opportunity to vote on their prize, with these three grades choosing popcorn and a movie in our Room 1011 auditorium. Our 7th graders voted for an ice cream celebration, which they will enjoy this Monday, March 30th, during their FLEX time. We want to send a big thank you to McKenzie Spencer and Samantha Wheeler for their hard work making the popcorn for the students who chose this reward. Great job, Panthers, for making your attendance a priority; we know that showing up every day is the best way to stay on track and make the most of your learning!

If you’d like your student featured in the newsletter, please email a short description of their achievement along with a photo to tammy.whitmore@dkschools.org. Let’s celebrate all the amazing things our students are doing! ⭐
